I Stabbed My Womb To Cut The Last Tie Binding Me To Him Chapter 01

Seven months pregnant.

I unexpectedly found an opened, used condom in Caleb Vance’s pocket.

I spiraled into a hysterical breakdown, demanding an explanation.

Caleb simply looked at me, utterly composed.

“You’re pregnant.”

“Don’t act like a lunatic.”

Caleb’s gaze drifted to my swollen abdomen.

“You’re over thirty-five; you’re a high-risk geriatric pregnancy.”

“When it comes time to deliver, if it’s a choice between the mother or the baby,” Caleb’s voice was icy, “I’m the one who makes the call.”

My expression froze. I looked at this man who had sworn to love me for a lifetime in utter disbelief, and then, suddenly, I started to laugh.

“Caleb Vance.”

I laughed until the laughter turned into a jagged, sobbing wail.

“I completely misjudged you.”

“But,” I grabbed the steak knife from the table and plunged it violently into my stomach, “the choice is mine, not yours.”

Blood sprayed.

It splattered across Caleb’s face, the heat of it momentarily paralyzing his ability to think, just long enough for him to hear me speak.

“Caleb Vance.”

“I’m done with you.”

“Sage!”

Caleb frantically caught my body, watching as blood gushed out like an unstoppable crimson river.

His whole body shuddered; his voice trembled uncontrollably.

“Honey!”

“I was wrong, honey! I’m so sorry!”

“Honey!”

“I’m taking you to the hospital!”

Caleb held me tight, losing his voice in terror. I felt his tears hitting my face. I heard him breaking down, pleading with me.

“Honey!”

“Please don’t die!”

On the way to the hospital.

Caleb gripped my hand like a lifeline, crying like a child.

“Honey!”

“As long as you’re okay!”

“As long as you and the baby are okay!”

“I’ll do anything! Anything!”

My consciousness began to blur. I heard Caleb begging the doctors.

“Save my wife!”

“Please!”

“Save her!”

“Save the mother! Choose the mother!”

The last flicker of my consciousness faded. I seemed to hear Caleb saying he’d love me forever; I struggled to respond, wanting to say I didn’t want it anymore.

I wanted to tell him:

“Caleb.”

“I don’t want your ‘forever’ anymore.”

“Caleb.”

“Once this baby is gone, there is nothing left between us.”

“I want a divorce.”

“I’m leaving you forever.”

It felt like waking from a nightmare. The sharp, acrid scent of disinfectant filled my nose. Then I heard my father’s familiar, thunderous voice, roaring.

“The Vance family raised a goddamn monster!”

“You drove my daughter to this! How did you raise him? What kind of son did you raise?!”

“Arthur, please, calm down.”

It was my mother-in-law.

Caleb’s mother, Beverly Vance, was using a placating, sycophantic tone.

“It was just a lovers’ quarrel. Emotions got high. Caleb certainly didn’t mean for this to happen.”

“Caleb signed that prenup and joined the Sterling family because he loves Sage so much. We’ve all seen it,” Beverly’s tone shifted as she barked, “Say something!”

I forced my eyes open. Everything was stark white. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Caleb still wearing that blood-stained jacket—the one that had hidden the used condom wrapper. The metallic scent of blood hit my throat, making my stomach churn. I saw Caleb kneeling before my father.

“It was my fault.”

“I’m a piece of shit!”

Caleb slapped himself hard across the face, his eyes red as he vowed.

“When Sage wakes up.”

“I will make amends.”

“I’ll beg for her forgiveness.”

The air went still.

After a long silence.

My mother spoke.

“That’s enough, Arthur.”

My father let out a cold snort and turned away without looking back.

The room fell quiet.

Caleb breathed a sigh of relief. He turned and caught my gaze. The fear in his eyes vanished, replaced by a flicker of mockery. He let out a cold sneer.

“You heard all that.”
