At Twenty-Eight, He Married My Enemy. At Eighteen, He Gave Me a Second Life. Chapter 05

The boy stared at him coldly.

“Who am I? I’m the one who promised to protect Eileen for the rest of my life. I love her more than anyone else in this world, and I will never let anyone who hurts her get away with it.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he drove the blade deeper into Ethan’s chest.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ethan dropped to his knees in agony.

Blood quickly spread across the ballroom’s pale carpet.

The guests finally snapped out of their shock.

Some screamed.

Others ran for the exits.

The same people who had been surrounding Ethan moments earlier, raising their glasses to congratulate him, now didn’t dare go anywhere near him.

Ethan lay on the floor, barely managing to prop himself up on one arm.

He looked at Blair, who was too terrified to move.

“Blair… help me stop the bleeding.”

Blair took one step forward.

Then she met the boy’s eyes.

The fury in eighteen-year-old Ethan’s eyes froze her in place.

He didn’t even have to say a word. Blair stopped immediately.

She looked down at Ethan on the floor, then at the boy.

Then she turned and ran. Her wedding dress was too long, and after only a few steps, she tripped and fell.

“Don’t come near me! Please, don’t touch me!”

She wrapped her arms around her stomach, crying so hard that her makeup smeared.

“I’m pregnant! Ethan is the one who hurt Eileen, not me! If you want revenge, go after him!”

When she realized the boy wasn’t paying any attention to her, Blair scrambled back to her feet, gathered up her skirt, and ran for the door.

She didn’t even look back at Ethan once.

A shirt faded from countless washes was draped over my trembling shoulders.

The boy’s face was pale, but he still smiled and gently ruffled my hair.

“Eileen. I finally found you.”

I stared at him, unable to believe what I was seeing.

Only when I felt the warmth of his cheek beneath my palm did I finally believe he was real.

He had really come to me.

The boy took my hand again.

“Come on. Let’s go home.”
