Alpha, I Won’t Be Your Luna Again Chapter 03

The next morning, the door to my room swung open.

Nathan was there.

He carried a bouquet, Lillian trailing behind him.

When I saw what the flowers were, my fingers went still.

Lilies.

I’m allergic to pollen.

Lillian walked in with a smile.

“Mira, Nathan brought me first thing this morning to see you.”

Nathan crossed to the bed and tossed the flowers onto me.

“Feeling better yet?”

The stems hit my chest, petals scattering over my hospital gown.

The sharp scent hit me and my throat closed up instantly.

I swept the flowers to the floor.

“Get them away from me.”

Nathan’s face darkened.

“What are you throwing a fit about now?”

I looked at him.

“I’m allergic to pollen.”

He didn’t even blink.

“Who keeps track of that.”

Lillian crouched right down, scooped up the flowers, and cooed.

“Mira, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were allergic to lilies. It’s my fault. I just wanted the ones that smelled the nicest.”

Then she leaned in close and murmured, “By the way, Nathan took me to a baby boutique today. He said he loves kids.”

“Too bad not everyone gets to give him an heir.”

I lifted my eyes to her.

Her lips curved, her eyes full of nothing but challenge.

I grabbed the water cup off the nightstand and hurled it at her.

“GET OUT!”

“AH —”

The cup hit the floor by her feet, water splashing everywhere. Lillian shrieked and shrank behind Nathan.

“Nathan, I just came to see Mira…”

“Shut up,” I said, glaring at her. “This is a hospital room, not your stage.”

Nathan clamped a hand around my wrist, his face livid.

“Mira, can’t you act like a decent person?”

I yanked my hand back, pulled the Mate Bond Dissolution Agreement out from under my pillow, and threw it at him.

“Sign it.”

A heavy silence crashed over the room.

Nathan glanced down, his face turning terrifyingly dark.

“Say that again.”

“Break the mate bond,” I said, quiet but crystal clear.

“I don’t want the money. I don’t want the house. I just want to be done with you.”

Something like delight flashed in Lillian’s eyes, even as she rushed to talk him down.

“Nathan, Mira just lost the pup, she’s not thinking straight, don’t take it to heart…”

My head snapped toward her.

“How do you know I lost the pup?”

Lillian’s face froze.

Nathan turned to look at her too.

She scrambled. “I… I guessed.”

I let out a cold laugh and looked at Nathan.

“You believe her, or the medical records?”

He picked up the agreement and tore it to pieces right in front of me, the scraps landing on my face.

“Mira, threatening me with breaking the mate bond won’t work.”

“You want a fight? I’ll give you one. But don’t think I’ll coddle you forever.”

I brushed the scraps off my face, my voice going cold.

“Fine.”

“Then I’ll see you in the werewolf court.”
