Alpha, I Won’t Be Your Luna Again Chapter 01

Alpha, I Won’t Be Your Luna Again Chapter 01

To make it to his mistress’s birthday party, my Alpha mate, Nathan Winter, locked me inside our house.

That was the night the house actually caught fire.

I pressed a hand over my mouth and nose and called the Pack Emergency Center, sobbing into the phone.

“Please — help me. I’m locked in the house and it’s ON FIRE —”

The voice on the other end was ice cold.

“Luna, the Alpha warned us ahead of time. If you called tonight, we’re to treat it as a false alarm.”

The line went dead.

I dialed 911.

The dispatcher hesitated after checking my number.

“Ma’am, your number’s been flagged as a possible prank call. We need to confirm with your mate.”

They called Nathan. All he said was, “She’s throwing a tantrum. Ignore her.”

Smoke poured into the bedroom. I smashed the window and jumped from the second floor.

I survived.

But the doctor told me something else.

I was pregnant.

And I’d lost the baby.

That night, Nathan was busy cutting a birthday cake for Lillian Blackmoor.

“HELP! My house is on fire! I’m locked inside!”

I crouched in the corner, hand over my mouth, dialing 911 over and over.

The kitchen fire had already climbed to the cabinets. The range hood shrieked with a shorting-out buzz, and smoke rolled toward the living room in thick waves.

The call connected.

“Pack Emergency Center. State your emergency.”

“My house is on fire! The door’s locked from the outside, I can’t get out! The address is —”

I’d barely finished when the line paused, then switched to a familiar man’s voice.

“Luna, the Alpha said if you called tonight, you were just having a fit.”

I froze.

“This isn’t a false alarm! There’s a REAL fire!”

“The kitchen just blew, the door won’t open, please HURRY —”

He cut me off, annoyed.

“Luna, the Pack Rescue Team isn’t your toy. We’re swamped here.”

The line went dead.

I stared at the black screen, my fingers stiff.

The next second, something in the kitchen went BOOM, and the living room curtains caught in an instant.

A wave of heat slammed into my face. I stumbled back two steps and called again.

“I’m NOT joking! Send a truck! I’m going to DIE —”

“Luna, the Alpha already told us you’d act up tonight.”

Beep —

The call cut off again.

My phone buzzed.

It was a text from Nathan.

[Mira, are you done yet?]

[It’s just Lillian’s birthday. Do you really have to drag the Pack Emergency Center into your drama?]

[Keep this up and I won’t come home tonight.]

I stared hard at the screen, my throat burning with suppressed grief.

The fire was real.

I really was about to die.

But the fire department didn’t believe me.

No — Nathan wouldn’t let them.

I gritted my teeth and called the Pack’s medical line instead.

“Pack Medical Center, go ahead.”

“Please… my house is on fire, I’m hurt, I’m locked inside, hurry…”

The dispatcher logged it fast.

“Please state your exact address.”

The moment I finished, the other end went quiet. Then the tone changed.

“Ma’am, the system shows a recent suspected false report from you. We need to verify with a family member.”

My voice cracked.

“I did NOT make a false report! I’m really locked in my house!”

“One moment.”

The line didn’t drop.

A few seconds later, the dispatcher dialed another number.

The background was loud — music, cheering, someone singing “Happy Birthday.”

Then I heard Nathan’s voice.

“Is it her?”

The dispatcher asked, “Alpha Nathan, can you confirm? Luna Mira says there’s a fire at the residence and she’s trapped —”

“She’s throwing a tantrum,” Nathan cut in coldly. “Don’t send anyone.”

“Yes, sir.”

I gripped the phone, listening to myself gasp.

Smoke flooded in. I doubled over, coughing, tears streaming down.

I couldn’t get through the living room. The door wouldn’t budge. The fire only got bigger.

If I stayed, I’d burn to death right here.

I lunged into the guest bedroom and grabbed a chair, swinging it at the window.

CRASH. Glass shattered across the floor.

This was the second floor. Below was a narrow side street.

Jump, and I might break something.

Don’t jump, and I’d wait here to die.

I clenched my teeth, climbed onto the sill, shut my eyes, and jumped.

The instant my back hit the ground, my whole body felt like it split open. Pain shot through my leg and my stomach at once, and everything went black.

Voices swarmed around me.

“Call an ambulance!”

“The upstairs is really on fire!”

“She’s bleeding!”

I lay there, barely able to move, blood running down my leg.

Before I lost consciousness, I was still clutching my phone.

The screen was frozen on my chat with Nathan.
