I Exposed My Stepsister’s Stolen Elite University Life Chapter 05

The following afternoon, I arrived at Sterling Tower half an hour early.

Madison’s assistant was already waiting at the entrance. When she saw me, she put on a polished professional smile.

“Ms. Whitaker, this way, please.”

She led me into an extravagant dressing room where a makeup artist and stylist were waiting.

“Madison asked us to make sure you look your best. This is a national livestream, so appearances matter.”

I stared at the unfamiliar face in the mirror, now layered with makeup, and felt nothing.

“No more,” I said calmly. “Leave everything else as it is.”

The assistant’s smile stiffened. “Ms. Whitaker, but…”

“I’m a food-delivery rider. This uniform is part of who I am. If I have to hide that just to face the cameras, what kind of reconciliation would this be?”

She realised she wasn’t going to get anywhere with me. Her expression darkened, but she said nothing more.

Madison finally arrived with ten minutes left before the livestream began.

She had changed into an ivory dress, and her sleek hair fell softly over her shoulders, making her look gentle and harmless.

She walked over and looked me up and down as a faint, mocking smile tugged at her lips.

“Nora, you’re still as stubborn as ever.”

She leaned close to my ear and spoke quietly enough that only I could hear.

“You memorised the script, didn’t you? Don’t say the wrong thing once we’re live.”

“Remember, you begged me to forgive you. Out of the goodness of my heart, I gave you a chance to make amends and start over.”

“If you play your part properly, the half-million dollars is yours. If you ruin it…”

She paused, and her eyes turned cold.

“You’ll deal with the consequences.”

I did not look at her. I simply adjusted my collar.

“Don’t worry. I won’t get a single word wrong.”

The livestream began.

The studio had been designed to feel warm and welcoming, with soft sofas and golden lighting.

The host was a well-known family mediator, famous for “resolving conflicts and bringing warmth back into people’s homes.”

At the beginning of the program, the host delivered an emotional account of the story between Madison and me. Naturally, it was the version Madison’s team had provided.

Their version cast Madison as the patient, selfless younger sister who had suffered in silence and gone on to achieve great success. I was portrayed as the bitter, jealous older sister who had lost her way.

“Today, we are fortunate to have Nora here with us. We hope this conversation will finally heal the long-standing rift between these sisters and bring love and family back into their home.”

The host handed me the microphone.

Beside me, Madison had already lowered her head and begun wiping away tears. Her shoulders shook with each carefully measured sob.

I stared into the camera without speaking.

Everyone in the studio was waiting for me to open my mouth and say, “I was wrong.”

“Nora?” the host prompted.

I drew a deep breath and finally spoke.

“Before I say anything, I’d like everyone to watch a video.”

Everyone froze.

Madison stopped crying and jerked her head toward me, her eyes filling with alarm and suspicion.

“Nora, what are you…”

I ignored her and nodded toward the control booth.

The studio’s main screen flickered to life.
