With Julian’s abilities, I wasn’t curious about how he knew where I lived.

I just didn’t understand why he had waited here just to ask me such a strange question.

I looked at him.

“What does that have to do with you?”

He lifted a brow.

“You dated me online. That makes you my ex-girlfriend.”

“He’s my cousin.”

“You’re getting this close to him. Tell me how that has nothing to do with me.’

I stayed silent for a moment.

“We’re friends.”

Julian asked back, “That’s all?”

I nodded.

Julian said nothing more.

He turned and pressed the elevator button.

I took out my keys and was about to go inside.

Then I heard him say, “She and I broke up. About what happened before, I’m sorry.”

Before I could react, he walked away.

Back inside my apartment, I sat on the couch.

I picked up my phone and saw a post blowing up on the campus forum.

[I saw the campus goddess arguing with Senior Whitmore by the lake this afternoon. Did they break up?]

Someone replied below.

[Seems like it. I heard a little. They mentioned someone else. The campus goddess said she just didn’t like that person and that she burned her on purpose. I didn’t hear the rest clearly.]

Only then did I realize Julian and Chloe might have broken up because of me.

That apology had been about him misunderstanding me.

I sighed and closed the page.

No matter what, from the moment I decided to let Julian go, none of that had anything to do with me.
