The meal was painfully awkward.

I sat beside Noah.

Whenever I lifted my head, I could see the man diagonally across from me.

He was drinking soup, his movements slow and elegant, almost too pleasing to watch.

In the past, if I had been this close to him, I would have been so nervous I wouldn’t know what to do.

But now, I was strangely calm.

The most comfortable person at the table was Noah.

While talking to Julian about family matters, he put food into my bowl.

“Try this. It’s my specialty.”

Just then, Julian suddenly glanced at me.

Then, unexpectedly, he spoke.

“She can’t handle spicy food.”

Noah paused.

“Really?”

I nodded.

“A little is fine. I’ll try it.”

After eating it, I praised him sincerely.

“You’re really good at cooking.”

Across from me, Julian’s face darkened instantly.

After that, he didn’t touch his fork again.

When dinner ended, Julian said he was leaving.

Noah wasn’t polite about it.

“Bro, you know the place. I’m not walking you out.”

“I still have dishes to wash.”

Julian nodded and walked to the door.

After he changed his shoes, he looked back at me.

I was still wondering why when I heard him ask, “You’re not leaving?”

“I still have something to ask him.”

His expression didn’t change, but he tugged at the corner of his mouth.

The next second, the door slammed shut.

Half an hour later, Noah walked me downstairs.

I went home.

But as soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I saw someone standing by my door.

It was Julian.

A cigarette rested between his fingers. He hadn’t lit it. His expression was gloomy.

Before I could speak, he asked, “What are you two? Is he chasing you?”
