They Sold Me to Hell and Called It Love Chapter 09

They Sold Me to Hell and Called It Love Chapter 09

After I was buried, the three men went mad.

My uncle locked himself in the Cross estate, clutching the photos of him and me, drinking himself into a stupor. He called my name over and over.

“Phina… your uncle was wrong… come back…”

“You were always so good. How could I have thought otherwise?”

When he was drunk, he hallucinated. He saw me sitting on a windowsill, about to jump. He lunged for me like a madman.

“Phina, don’t jump! Don’t leave your uncle! I was wrong!”

He reached for the phantom of me, crying out—and then he lost his footing. He fell from the twenty-second floor window. He was gone before he hit the ground.

Kael obtained every video, every photograph of what I had endured in Nueva Sangre for five years.

He locked himself in a room and watched them over and over, torturing himself with every frame of my suffering, whispering his confessions.

“Phina, don’t be afraid. I’m coming to you.”

“And our baby… wait for me.”

He donated every share of Rourke Arms, every asset he owned, anonymously—to organizations that rescued trafficking victims in Southeast America.

He thought it would atone for what he had done. But I didn’t care.

He had been merciless to me when I was alive. All the charity in the world couldn’t buy back what I had lost.

As for Lila Hart—she didn’t survive the retribution that came for her.

She died exactly as I had. Her baby was stillborn. Her legs were amputated. On a rainy night, she was pushed from a high-rise window. No one came to claim her body.

Kael lost all will to live. One night, during a storm, he drove his car straight into the river. His body was never found.

Darius, the most ruthless of the three, didn’t rest either.

He gathered his men, armed them, and stormed the compound in Nueva Sangre where I had been kept. He captured everyone who had ever hurt me.

When they begged for mercy on their knees, he showed none. He executed every last one of them. He painted the compound red with their blood.

When the air was thick with the smell of iron, he pressed the barrel of his gun to his temple and whispered, “Phina… I’m coming to find you. Wait for me.”

A gunshot rang out. He fell into the pool of blood at his feet.

I watched the three of them reach their ends. The system’s voice sounded in my ear, telling me it was time to go.

Back then, after I completed my mission, I had chosen to stay. The system had vanished. I never expected it would return just to pull me out of hell.

[Host, you completed all redemption tasks seven years ago. The rewards promised to you will be waiting when you return to your original world.]

[Rewards total: one hundred million dollars, and a fully restored, healthy body.]

The moment it finished speaking, a blinding light flashed—and I lost consciousness.

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed. A nurse saw me awake and ran out excitedly to find the doctor.

In my original world, I had been hit by a car while saving a little girl who had run into the street. I had been in a coma for a full year.

Because of that good deed, the system had given me a second chance. If I completed the redemption mission, I would not only receive the reward money—I would live again.

The doctor ran a full examination. His face lit up with amazement. “It’s a miracle. A year in a coma, and there’s no lasting damage. You’re healthier than the average person.”

I thanked him from the bottom of my heart.

When I checked out of the hospital, I opened my bank account. There it was—a hundred million dollars.

I was no longer a penniless orphan who couldn’t afford rent.

The five years of hell had left scars I would carry forever. But the money in my account—and this healthy, whole body—gave me something I had never had before.

Hope.

With money in hand, I didn’t rush to find work. Instead, I traveled the world. I let myself heal.

No fake family. No false love. No sickening schemes. Slowly, the knots in my heart began to loosen.

A year later, I returned home and opened my own high-end jewelry design studio.

I no longer needed love for myself. But I could use my designs to add the most brilliant sparkle to other people’s love stories.
