The Day I Left He Proposed But I No Longer Wanted Marriage Chapter 12

Claire stormed through the door of the CEO’s office in a huff.

Evan was standing by the window smoking. Hearing the commotion, he hurriedly turned around.

The moment he saw who had walked in, the hope that had flickered in his eyes instantly died out.

“Evan! Did you see Aria just now? She was absolutely insufferable!”

Claire couldn’t hold back the moment she entered, her shrill voice making Evan’s brow furrow tight.

Evan didn’t pay her any attention. He simply stubbed out his cigarette and turned toward Mrs. Harrison.

“Mom, what brings you here today?”

Mrs. Harrison walked over to the sofa and sat down, elegantly smoothing out the hem of her skirt.

“Since you and Aria have already broken up for good, then settle on the wedding date with Claire and be done with it.”

“Once the news of the two families merging through marriage is released, it’ll be good for the Harrison Group’s stock price as well.”

Evan looked at Mrs. Harrison, his eyes filled with a resistance he had never shown before.

“Mom, I’ve told you—I will not marry Claire.”

“In this lifetime, I will marry no one except Aria.”

“I’m going to win her back.”

Hearing these words, Claire was completely stupefied.

“Evan! Have you lost your mind?”

“That woman spent six years abroad and couldn’t even manage to get a diploma. What on earth is so good about her?”

“She already dumped you, and you’re actually going to degrade yourself and beg for her?”

Her eyes reddening, Claire turned a pleading gaze toward Mrs. Harrison.

“Mrs. Harrison! Please, talk some sense into him!”

Yet this time, Mrs. Harrison did not scold Evan the way she always had before.

She simply watched her son quietly, and then let out a long sigh.

“Since you want to chase after her, then go ahead and chase.”

A flash of wild joy shot through Evan’s eyes.

“Mom, you… you’re agreeing?”

Mrs. Harrison looked at him flatly, her voice ice-cold.

“But I’ll say the ugly part upfront.”

“If you can’t win her back, then give up as soon as possible. Don’t keep clinging and dragging on like a madman, disgracing the Harrison name.”

“Our Harrison family cannot afford to lose that face.”

Mrs. Harrison rose to her feet and walked directly out of the office.

Evan stood where he was, his hands trembling uncontrollably.

Six years.

For the first time, he had gotten his mother to relent.
