Mated to the Alpha Who Ruined Me Chapter 11

Mated to the Alpha Who Ruined Me Chapter 11

When I got back to the castle, Kane’s car was parked out front. He was home.

I scrambled to hide the vial in the pocket of my coat, pushing the door open. He was sitting on the couch in the living room, staring right at me by the door.

“Where were you?”

His voice was soft, but it sent a cold chill down my spine.

I clenched the vial in my pocket.

“Went for a walk. The White Pine Valley projects are giving me a headache.”

He stopped in front of me, his voice low.

“What’s in your pocket? You know I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell.”

My heart stopped. I knew I couldn’t hide it anymore.

I closed my eyes, pulled the vial out of my pocket, and slammed it on the floor.

“Kane Walker, stop pretending!”

My voice broke, thick with tears and the rage of a woman with nothing left to lose.

“How long were you planning to keep this observation game going? You drove me out of the academy, you trapped me in this marriage, and you watched me make a fool of myself, falling for your lies. Was it fun? You just wanted my Moon Goddess bloodline to break your stupid curse, didn’t you?!”

I’d expected him to argue, to get angry. But he just knelt down, looking up at me as I cried.

“Ella. I never wanted to hurt you. Never.”

He just stood up, led me to the couch, and sat me down. On the table was a thick stack of files, and an encrypted hide-bound notebook.

“Cole told me you went to see Liam today. I knew it was time to tell you everything.”

The top file was a stack of encrypted letters, exchanged between Kane’s uncle and Liam’s father.

The words burned into my eyes.

[The Moon Goddess bloodline carrier, Ella, is the only cure for the Alpha bloodline curse. We must take control of her. Make our move at the academy, abduct her, and render her into a blood binding agent.]

He spoke, word by word, revealing the truth.

Back then, Kane’s father had died suddenly.

His uncle had seized most of the family’s power, and had made a secret deal with Liam’s father and the Hidden Moon Pack, plotting to usurp the throne.

The Walker family’s Alpha bloodline had carried a fatal curse for generations. Heirs would slowly lose control of their wolf after reaching adulthood, eventually dying when their bodies gave out.

Only an Omega with the Moon Goddess bloodline could soothe, and ultimately break, the curse. His uncle and Liam’s father had set their sights on me long ago.

They’d planned to kidnap me, render me into a blood binding agent that could suppress the curse, use it to control Kane, and take complete control of the Black Rock Pack.

Back then, the academy was filled with his uncle’s spies.

Kane had just taken over the family, his position still fragile. He had no way to protect me openly.

So he’d used the only extreme method he had. He’d humiliated me in public, labeled me a broken freak, and driven me back to White Pine Valley, a place sealed with ancient pack wards, cut off from the world.

The wards in White Pine Valley bought him time.

Time to solidify his power in the family.

After he’d driven me away, he’d hunted down and eliminated every single one of his uncle’s spies in the academy, and declared war on Liam’s father.

For so many years, he’d walked a tightrope with his uncle, slowly taking back control of the family, all while secretly posting guards around White Pine Valley.

Our reunion at the Rite of Adulthood Ball hadn’t been an accident.

It was the moment he’d finally taken down his uncle’s core faction, solidified his place as Alpha of the Black Rock Pack, and finally had the power to protect me openly.

So he’d waited there for me, on purpose.

His love at first sight had been real.

His need to protect me had been real.

When he’d announced to the world that I was his fated mate, it had been to wrap me in the full weight of the Black Rock Pack’s protection, to cut off anyone who might still dare to target me for my bloodline.

He hadn’t failed to recognize me.

He’d known who I was the second he’d laid eyes on me at the ball.

He’d been scared that if I remembered the humiliation, I’d hate him.

He’d rather let me hate him, let me believe the worst of him, than risk losing the chance to keep me safe under his wing.

Until he’d found out Liam had reached out to me.

And Liam had never been innocent.

From the very start, he’d only ever wanted to use me.

To use my hands to destroy Kane, seize the Walker Group, then lock me up and finish the plan his father had started all those years ago.

That vial he’d given me? It wasn’t moonwort potion.

It was a forbidden draught, one that would completely destroy an Alpha’s wolf core. If Kane had drunk it, he wouldn’t just have been left a broken man.

The curse would have rebounded completely, killing him instantly.

But he told me.

Every time I stay with him, he can control the curse.

And good news, his men are researching for new remedy for this curse and they have come a long way.

The full weight of the truth crashed over me. I finally understood.

The man I’d hated and suspected for years, the man I’d thought was my tormentor, had been the one protecting me, quietly in the shadows.

In the name of revenge, I’d nearly destroyed the only person in the world who’d ever risked everything to keep me safe.

I clung to him, sobbing until my chest ached, whispering I’m sorry over and over again.

He held me just as tight, his arms wrapped around me his voice as soft as falling snow.

“It’s okay, Ella. It’s all okay now. As long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters.”

“Ella,” he continued.

“We can’t take Liam down for good just yet. The timing isn’t right. He’s been planning this for years, and we don’t know what other cards he’s holding. But I promise you this, no matter what happens from here on out, I’ll be right here with

you.”

I stood on my tiptoes, and pressed my lips to his.

Years of misunderstanding and hatred melted away.

The strongest Alpha had already given me the warm, safe home I’d always needed.

I must look forward.
