The Second Chance Wolf Chapter 09

The Second Chance Wolf Chapter 09

“Hope,” Dad began, you’ve graduated now. You’re an honored alumna of Royal Fang Academy, and your

future is wide open.”

“But your sister…

“Eat.”

I cut him off.

He continued anyway.

“Anna has spent four years repeating the entrance exam, and she’s been rejected every single time. We’ve run

out of options.”

“Could you help her?”

“Talk to your professors. Ask where she’s falling short. Help tutor her, or introduce her to the right people. Just help her get into Royal Fang Academy next year.”

I looked up at him calmly.

Just as I expected. The only reason they had remembered me… was because of Anna.

I gently shook my head, “I can’t.”

My answer ignited the frustration Anna had buried for the past four years.

“Hope! Have you ever treated me like your sister?”

“You got lucky once and got into Royal Fang Academy! What are you so proud of? What makes you think

you’re so special?”

Her hysterical shouting echoed through the house.

The entire time, Mom and Dad sat there in silence. Neither of them tried to stop her.

Their silence was permission. They accepted every accusation she threw at me.

I looked at my screaming sister. Then at my parents, who watched without saying a word.

Suddenly, I smiled.

The exam is fair. No one has the authority to interfere. I have no power to influence the results, and I will never help anyone cheat or take shortcuts.

Mom frowned deeply

“Hope, can’t you think of another way? Your sister only has you.”

I lifted my hand and placed my fork firmly onto the table.

“This is her responsibility”

Dad’s expression darkened immediately.

“We invited you home for dinner, and now you’re acting like you’re above everyone else?”

“Can’t you speak to us properly?”

“Families are supposed to help each other.”

“Now that you’ve become successful, are you really going to turn your back on your own family?”

I looked at the three people sitting before me.

The family connected to me by blood.

At that moment, the final thread tying me to them quietly snapped.

I reached into my bag and took out a bank card. Then I placed a printed declaration beside it.

I set both in the middle of the table.

“The money in this account is enough to repay every dollar you spent raising me.”

“It covers my living expenses, my education, and everything you ever spent on me.

“I’m returning every cent, with interest.”

“From this day forward, I owe the Whiteleaf Pack nothing.”

My gaze swept calmly across their pale faces.

“Effective today, I, Hope Rosales, formally sever all ties with the Whiteleaf Pack.

“I am no longer a member of this pack.”

“Alpha Rafe and Luna Helene, you are no longer my parents

“Anna Rosales, you are no longer my sister.”

The color drained from their faces.

Both of my parents shot to their feet in panic, reaching for me

“Hope! What are you doing? What is this declaration? We don’t accept it’

“We know we were wrong. We’ve changed. We only wanted you to help your sister.”

I turned around without looking back.

My steps never slowed as I walked out of the packhouse.

That very night, I boarded a flight back to the Eclipseborn Pack and returned to training until late into the

night.

One year later.

I received the Alpha King’s Medal of Merit for leading the successful defense against a rogue attack and protecting the royal fortress

On the day of the award ceremony, the audience was filled with my mentors, colleagues, and former

classmates.

Standing on the stage with the medal resting against my chest, I felt my eyes grow warm.

“I began training when I was eight years old. In the beginning, no one believed in me.”

“They said I wasn’t strong enough. That I was too small. That I lacked power. That I ran too slowly. That I’d already missed the best years to train.”

“They even doubted whether I would ever awaken my wolf.”

“But I kept going. I made it here anyway.”

“Today, there are so many people I want to thank

“My teachers. My classmates. My colleagues.

“But the person I want to thank most is myself”

“Thank you…”

“For never giving up on yourself.”
