The Second Chance Wolf Chapter 05

The Second Chance Wolf Chapter 05

“She’s a brown wolf!”

“What?”

Mom’s fingers tightened around the admission letter. The color slowly drained from her face.

“That’s impossible!”

The pride on Dad’s face froze. His brows knitted together as disbelief filled his eyes.

The entire pack fell silent. No one dared make a sound.

“How… how could it be Hope?”

Dad stared at the name on the admission letter, reading it over and over as his expression darkened.

“No! It can’t be.”

“How could she possibly get in? She was a no-wolf. She was so small and skinny. There was no way!”

In their minds, I had always been the clumsy, dark-skinned, untalented older sister who could never measure

up to Anna.

Yet somehow… I had been accepted into the Royal Fang Academy they revered above everything else.

I had become a future Royal Warrior. And I was the legendary Golden Wolf.

Meanwhile, the daughter they had cherished, spoiled, and devoted everything to had not only failed the entrance exam, but had also awakened as nothing more than an ordinary brown wolf.

An utterly ordinary brown wolf.

Mom’s hands began to tremble. The thin admission letter crumpled beneath her grip.

“But… she told us she didn’t get in.”

“Why didn’t she tell us?”

Dad’s face turned ashen.

He remembered the last time he had seen me. The moment I slammed the door and walked away.

For the first time… a wave of belated guilt washed over him.

Only then did they realize their last memory of me was watching me leave the pack in silence.

The day I left the pack, a light rain had begun to fall, soaking my hair.

I stood alone on the train platform with my suitcase quietly resting beside me.

Four thousand kilometers. Northbound.

By the time the train reached the territory of the Eclipseborn Pack, where the Alpha King resided, dawn was

just breaking.

The northern wind carried a biting chill that stung my face.

Dragging my small suitcase behind me, I left the station and used my last eight hundred dollars to rent a subsidized apartment near Royal Fang Academy.

The moment I set my luggage down, I let out a long breath.

From now on… I could finally stop living in Anna’s shadow.

Maybe… I could finally become myself.

The very same day I settled in, I found a part-time job.

I worked at a coffee shop, making drinks and serving customers every day until my arms were too sore to

lift.

But I never thought it was hard.

Whenever I had free time at night, I quietly slipped into the forest behind the apartment and shifted into my

wolf.

Her name was Rue. She was a magnificent Golden Wolf. Huge, powerful, and unbelievably fast.

Far stronger than I had ever imagined.

She often ran through the forest until dawn, using every hour after work to train together.

Back home, I had never dared to train openly. I had never dared to run freely through the pack’s forests.

The slightest noise would earn me another lecture.

Mom and Dad always accused me of competing with Anna. Of overestimating myself. Of embarrassing the family.

But now no one could stop me anymore.

I could train until midnight.

I could run until sweat soaked every inch of my body.

I could give everything to the dream I loved.

The girl reflected in the mirror was still slender, with a delicate frame.

But beneath my loose clothes were lean, well-defined muscles.

For the first time… I looked at myself and thought, So… I was beautiful too.

The first day of school arrived.

The entrance to Royal Fang Academy buzzed with excitement.

Bright sunshine poured across the campus.

Families filled every corner.

Parents carried luggage, made beds, completed paperwork, and hauled stacks of brand-new bedding for

their children.

I had none of that.

Alone, I carried my backpack, pulled my suitcase, and quietly walked through the crowd.

The money I had earned over the past two months was only enough to cover my tuition for the first

semester.

A gentle-looking girl walked over with a warm smile, “Hey, did you come by yourself? Didn’t your parents come with you?”

My hands paused as I smoothed the bedsheet across my mattress.

My fingertips rested against the cool fabric. Then I looked up.

“I don’t have parents. I’ve been an orphan since I was little.”

She froze. The curiosity in her eyes instantly turned into guilt.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know. I really didn’t mean to…”

I gently shook my head and offered her a faint smile.

“It’s okay.”

I truly didn’t care anymore.

The day I chose to leave… my family had already died in my heart.

And my pack had become nothing more than a memory.
