He Promised Me Photos, She Got Them Instead Chapter 07

With Nathan and Chloe beside me, I had an incredible time at the remaining four stops of our trip.

Just as they had promised, neither of them rushed me once during the entire summer or on any of our five

hikes.

Whenever I started feeling tired during a hike, they immediately complained, “We’re exhausted. Let’s take a

break.”

When it came time to order food, they took just as long as I did. They studied the menu, read the reviews, and then discussed every option with me before we decided what to eat.

When they noticed the hives on my hands, neither of them mentioned it.

They simply made sure we never ordered anything I needed to avoid.

The siblings were so considerate that even when I occasionally saw photos of Dylan and Madison together on Instagram, I no longer felt lonely.

When Madison sent me her usual messages showing off what they were doing, I could ignore them without

a second thought.

Even when Dylan occasionally posted little things he knew I would like and captioned them [Another gift for someone. One more for the collection.], I felt nothing at all.

However, when our trip finally ended and it was time to go our separate ways, my eyes filled with tears.

“Chloe, you have to stay in touch once school starts.”

I held her hands and repeated it several times.

Her eyes were wet too as she hugged me, reluctant to let go.

“Of course I will. You’d better not forget me.”

“And you have to answer my messages.

“You can ignore the ones my brother sends.”

Chloe shot Nathan a glare, then leaned close to whisper in my ear.

“I think that man has a thing for you.”

“We’re only starting freshman year, and there are tons of hot guys waiting for us. You cannot let him steal you away before we even get there”

I did not know whether to laugh or cry.

What she had said made me so self-conscious that I felt awkward even speaking to Nathan when it was time

to say goodbye.

Noticing my discomfort, Nathan’s gaze darkened slightly.

He placed a Band-Aid in my palm.

“I noticed you scraped your leg again. Put this on.”

I blinked and instinctively looked down.

There was a tiny cut beside an old scar, so small that I had not even felt it.

Nathan had not only noticed it but had also bought me a Band-Aid.

“Thank you.”

The words came out stiffly, while my ears grew hotter by the second.

Nathan raised an eyebrow.

“See you on campus, freshman.”

“And don’t play favorites. You’d better not answer Chloe’s messages and ignore mine.”
