His Captive Obsession Chapter 18

His Captive Obsession Chapter 18

After my classes finished, I went to find them for a bedtime story.

“Dad, why did you never go outside when we lived in that old house?” I asked.

He pinched my cheek, offering a gentle smile. “You slept more than a koala bear back then, Munchkin. If Daddy didn’t go out to work while you were asleep, how could I afford your formula?”

Ah. It turned out he did go out; I was just asleep the whole time.

Then I turned to Mom. “How did you and Dad meet?”

Valerie looked at Tristan, thinking about how much trouble he had brought into her life. Having grown up in an orphanage, she had never met anyone so relentlessly persistent.

His beauty was truly a dangerous distraction.

Back then, he had dragged himself out to the countryside after crashing his stepmother’s car. He was barely conscious but somehow managed to walk nearly ten miles covered in blood.

She had been out catching crayfish under the moonlight when she saw him, nearly dying of fright because she thought he was a ghost.

She tried to pretend she didn’t see him, but he walked straight into the river without a single struggle, silently accepting his fate.

The next second, she dove in and pulled him out.

The moment he opened his eyes, his speech was completely slurred and incoherent.

“Miss… do you want a puppy? If you want, you can have the most loyal dog in the entire world.”

She had been completely fooled by that innocent face.

Tristan hadn’t wanted children at first and had even gotten a vasectomy, but with their intense frequency, miracles happen.

Valerie had been happy in the orphanage, but she had also been incredibly lonely. She wanted a real home and her own family, so she chose to keep the baby.

After Zoe was born, Tristan spent months feeling incredibly insecure, crying while he bottle-fed the baby.

He would look down at her tiny, soft face and whisper, “Little thing, is Valerie going to stop loving me because of you?”

But as he cried and thought about it, he eventually came up with a plan.

“I’m going to spoil you completely and be the best dad in the world. That way, if Valerie ever leaves me, I can at least get custody through you.”

Because of that, Zoe basically grew up in his arms.

His beautiful wife had given him a beautiful child, and he constantly felt like the luckiest man alive, frequently brought to tears by how perfect his life had become.
