I Saw My Cruel Stepmom Future And Changed It All Chapter 05

Jasper’s birth mother showed up even faster than the floating commentary predicted.

The next morning when I headed downstairs for breakfast, a woman sat on the grand reception

lounge sofa.

She was in her early thirties with flawless makeup, dressed in a cream designer two-piece suit that

looked straight off a magazine cover.

A cup of brewed tea sat beside her, poured by Hugo, and she held herself with perfect ease like this

estate still belonged to her.

Kaelen stood by the bay window, his face giving away nothing.

She lifted her eyes the second she spotted me and smiled.

“You must be Kaelen’s new wife. You’re so young.”

Her tone sounded gentle, but she dragged out the word “new” on purpose.

The floating commentary blew up all at once.

[She’s just a manipulative gold-digger playing mom!]

[She abandoned this kid and ran off years ago, now she’s playing the grieving mother.]

[In the alternate timeline, she took Jasper away and treated him even worse afterward.]

[She only wants custody to manipulate Kaelen, the boy’s just leverage.]

My heart sank.

“Hello,” I said, keeping my expression calm and unchanging.

Kaelen spoke up then.

“This is Seraphina Mercer, Jasper’s birth mother.”

Seraphina stood and took two slow steps toward me, her eyes glistening with manufactured tears.

“I know my sudden arrival must feel jarring,” her voice cracked with fake sorrow.

“But I’ve missed my child more than words can say.”

“It was all my fault for leaving back then.”

Her acting was flawless.

[An Oscar belongs to her.]

I didn’t engage with her performance, just turned to face Kaelen.

“What’s this about?”

Kaelen’s gaze shifted from Seraphina to my face and lingered two full seconds.

“I think it’s only fair she gets to see Jasper.”..

“No.”

The single word stunned all three of us in the living room, myself included.

Seraphina’s fake tears froze halfway down her cheeks.

Kaelen’s brows drew tight.

“Elowen, this is not a choice for you to make.”

I stared straight into his eyes.

Is springing the woman who abandoned him back into his life really good for Jasper?

Kaelen’s lips pressed into a thin, hard line.

Seraphina cut in softly beside us.

“I understand your worries, Miss Voss. But I am his birth mother.”

“A birth mother who vanished when he turned three,” I shot back, no softness left in my voice.

“Where were you every single night he cried himself to sleep these past two years?”

Seraphina’s composure shattered for the first time, her face turning pale.

[Elowen’s speaking for all of us!]

[It won’t work though, Kaelen’s still not on our side right now.]

Just like the commentary warned, Kaelen’s tone turned icy.

“I said Jasper will meet her tomorrow.”

He left no room for negotiation, spinning on his heel and heading upstairs, cutting the

conversation short.

Seraphina watched his retreating back, then turned back to me with that gentle mask plastered

right back on her face.

“Thank you for looking after Jasper all this time, Miss Voss.”

“But from here on out, that responsibility belongs to me.”

I met her cold gaze.

“I hope you mean that sincerely.”

“And what if I don’t?” She tilted her head, smile unchanged, yet a sharp glint flashed in her eyes for/ a split second.

“I’ll make you regret ever coming back here.”
