My Groom Swapped Brides at the Altar So I Swapped Grooms in the Parking Lot Chapter 16

Sluane and Nathaniel had agreed to a marriage of convenience.

Eight years later, they had somehow stumbled their way into something neither could walk away from.

Nathaniel lived in terror that she would trade him in.

He followed her everywhere.

She had a meeting, he sat in the lobby waiting.

She met a client, he just happened to be dining at the same restaurant.

She spent more than five minutes in the bathroom, and he would call her cell.

“You okay?”

Sloane found it both funny and heartbreaking.

The heir to Marshall Trading Group, a man who commanded boardrooms by day, turned into a giant,

anxious puppy the moment she was out of sight.

Even Riley noticed.

“Your guy is terrified you’ll dump him. He’s been walking on eggshells for years. You need to give him some

reassurance.”

Sloane blinked.

Terrified she would dump him?

She thought back.

He never asked, “Do you love me?”

But every night before bed, he asked three times, “You’re coming home tomorrow, right?”

She had thought it was just a habit.

This man had been this insecure all along?

Sloane decided it was time to give him some security.

She set a pregnancy test, two pink lines, right in front of him.

“Bingo.”

The man stared at those two lines for a solid ten seconds.

Then he looked up, eves red-rimmed, voice hoarse and barely recognizable.

Really?”

“Really.”

“Mine?”

Sloane grabbed a throw pillow and hurled at him.

He caught it one-handed and pulled her, pillow and all, into his lap.

He rested his chin on top of her head and mumbled something.

She said she did not catch it.

He said it again.

“So you’re not leaving?”

Sloane buried her face in his chest and laughed.

She laughed until the tears started falling.

This idiot.

If she wanted to leave, would she have let him follow her around for eight years?

“I’m not going anywhere,” she mumbled into his shirt. I’m done running.”

Nathaniel’s arms tightened around her.

Moonlight spilled across the floor, just like that ridiculous night eight years ago.

The first time she laid eyes on him, all she had thought was, this man’s abs have got to be incredible.

She never expected she would be touching them for eight years.

The end.
