My Groom Swapped Brides at the Altar So I Swapped Grooms in the Parking Lot Chapter 10

Delia’s face went pale.

She whipped around to look at Brandon.

“Legal? You went to the courthouse with her before our wedding?”

Brandon’s brow furrowed.

“No. Absolutely not.”

“Then what does she mean?” Delia’s voice rose, drawing glances from people nearby. “Who are you married to right now?”

Brandon rubbed his temples, impatience bleeding into his voice.

“Sloane, don’t do this.”

“My marriage to Delia has already been accepted by both families. Right now, everyone in Claremont knows I’m her husband, not yours.”

“Whatever is going on between us, we’ll talk later, okay?”

‘Just explain it to her. Apologize. Let’s move on.”

Explain?

Apologize?

Sloane looked up at Brandon’s face, every line of it telling her to be sensible.

“When did I ever say my husband was you?”

Delia froze.

So did Brandon.

Sloane reached into her bag and rummaged for a moment.

Then her hand stopped.

She had forgotten the marriage certificate.

“Then who are you talking about?” Delia pressed. “If you can’t name him, you’re just here to pick a fight and ruin my day on purpose!”

Sloane glanced at her.

No defense.

Nu panic.

She just snapped her bag shut and said flatly, “Believe it or not.”

“You…” Delia choked on the nonchalance, her eyes going redder.

She grabbed Brandon’s sleeve.

“Brandon, look at her! Am I supposed to be blamed for the car mix-up? I’m a victim here too!”

“I’ve been playing nice, standing here smiling through your business event, and she shows up to humiliate me? I have a reputation too! Tell her to leave!”

Brandon rubbed his temples again.

His head was a mess.

‘Sloane.” His voice dropped, carrying the last shred of patience he had left. “Stop saying this nonsense.”

‘Everyone knows what we are to each other. Why even bother lying about this? Do you want to humiliate ne, or just embarrass yourself?”

Sloane said nothing.

The crowd around them was growing.

Cameras clicked.

People whispered and laughed behind their hands.

Brandon’s temples throbbed.

He was not afraid of embarrassment, but he was afraid of looking bad in front of Mr. Marshall.

Today’s summit was too important.

Nothing could go wrong.

“Go home.” He stepped forward, reaching for her wrist. “Be sweet. I’ll come find you later.”

Sloane looked at him.

“Are you deaf? I said my husband is not you.”
