My Alpha Family Faked Their Deaths to Punish Me? Well… See What Your ‘Punishment’ Has Destroyed Chapter 02

I finally asked it. My voice was raspy and unstable, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth the moment the words left my lips.

I couldn’t accept being labeled as reckless and extravagant. It made me sound like a shallow, vain she-wolf.

I was a pack princess, but I had never chased after luxury. None of my clothes or jewelry had ever cost more than a few thousand dollars.

In the entire high society of the werewolf world, I was remarkably plain, a glaring anomaly.

Tessa stiffened. “Why would you ask that? You’re doing much better now.”

“What do you mean ‘now’? What about before?” I pressed on.

She frowned.

“You weren’t exactly careful with money back when Mom and Dad were alive.”

“Our parents weren’t born Alphas. They started as Gammas, worked the plantations, and scraped together enough for a small plot of land. They pushed through hard times with a handful of Omegas and built their business from there.”

“Then they started the company. Wolves flocked to them, and on the wolf continent, they built the Ashborne Pack.”

“Every single penny I spent, including my own living expenses, was carefully considered.”

“But on your birthdays, you’d cling to them and beg for gifts worth tens of thousands. Did you really think that was okay?”

Agitated, I took two steps forward.

“But from the moment I was born, I was an Alpha’s princess. I just wanted a phone like everyone else. How is that wasteful?”

“Besides, if making money doesn’t allow us to enjoy life, what’s the point of it?”

Her face darkened.

“Would you just hear yourself? It’s just a phone. What difference does the model make?”

“You’re just vain, always comparing yourself to those socialites, which is why you kept demanding things.”

“You’ve had nothing these past five years, and haven’t you been doing just fine?”

I stared at her in disbelief, the blood running cold in my veins.

In her eyes, I had been doing just fine these past five years?

I played a corpse every single day, begging the director for extra scenes just to make a few dozen more bucks.

Sometimes I lay in the mud, sometimes in a stinking ditch.

I stayed motionless for over ten hours at a time.

To make matters worse, my old rival, Greta Ward, saw how far I had fallen and constantly found ways to torment me.

And I couldn’t even fight back.

Even so, I had still worried about my sister. To ease her burden, I had signed up as a volunteer for a drug trial. To this day, I didn’t even know what that medication had done to my body.

Did a life like this really count as fine?

My stomach wrenched in pain again, and Greta’s words suddenly flashed through my mind.

“You idiot, you brought this entirely on yourself.”

“I’m going to follow you. Whichever set you’re on, I’ll be there. My father is rich anyway—he can throw money at any production to get me in.”

“For the next five years, you’re going to suffer at my hands.”

A sudden chill ran down my spine, and cold sweat broke out all over me.

Five years. Why was it exactly five years?

Did Greta know something too?

Instinct told me that Tessa and our parents were definitely keeping more secrets from me.

Clenching my fists, I suppressed the urge to confront her and forced myself to sound submissive. “Fine. I’ll change. I’ll do better.”

Tessa set her cutlery down, patting my head with a relieved smile. “That’s more like it. You go ahead and eat. I have to go to work.”

I nodded.

Then Tessa left for work.

I put on a mask and a hat, quietly slipping out to follow her.

Once she left our old neighborhood, she made a phone call by the side of the road.

A few minutes later, a black Maybach pulled up in front of her.

Seeing her get in, I quickly hailed a cab and followed.

Half an hour later, she walked into an upscale restaurant.

I entered several minutes after her, taking a seat directly behind her.

Terrified of being spotted, I kept my head down, unable to see who was sitting across from her.

“Tessa, I’ve been torturing Raina just like you told me to. She’s been behaving really well lately!”

Hearing that voice, I froze instantly.

It was Greta.
