My Snake Lord Suitor Chapter 07

My Snake Lord Suitor Chapter 07

Silas escorted me to work once more that morning, his body slumping with visible sadness as I pulled away in my car.

Holographic overlays popped up out of nowhere mid-commute, something they never did while I drove or sat at my desk.

[The lead Jasper’s resurfacing after a full week of radio silence!]

[WARNING: HIGH TENSION AHEAD.]

A Veyron Executive Sedan rolled through the gates of Willow Creek Subdivision seconds later.

I recognized Jasper’s vehicle instantly.

He knew I left the estate at this hour every weekday, so he wasn’t here looking for me.

He’d come to confront his great-uncle instead.

Curiosity got the better of me.

I texted my supervisor to request an unpaid personal hour and circled back to the neighborhood to watch the scene unfold.

Jasper’s sedan parked directly outside my front gate.

Silas stepped out of the estate in his full human form at the exact same moment.

My breath caught.

Silas was even taller and broader than his online photos captured, his features sharp and defined.

A tailored charcoal suit clung to his pale skin, his prominent Adam’s apple shifting as he tilted his chin upward.

The overlays lost their collective minds.

[HOLY GOODNESS HE’S STUNNING.]

[I’m switching teams immediately, forget Jasper.]

[Who said mature age-gap leads don’t hit different?]

[Total full 180 on my opinions, he’s perfect.]

Silas lifted his gaze to lock eyes with Jasper through the car window.

“You came.”

Jasper pushed open the sedan door and limped out, layers of medical gauze wrapped around his face.

The commentary erupted in laughter.

[Jasper’s a total disaster right now.]

[Silas dug up every mistake Jasper made and reported it to Hugo Thorne, his own father. Hugo cut Jasper off from the family’s monthly trust fund and barred him from all family estate events until he learned to watch his tongue. Jasper jumped off a second-story balcony just to get over here and argue with Silas.]

[Silas juggles running the conglomerate, spending time with Clara, and sabotaging Jasper’s attempts to win her back—he’s booked solid.]

Jasper’s injuries all traced back to his desperate attempts to reach me.

He sounded deferential despite his bruised, bandaged face.

“Uncle Silas.”

Silas’s tone stayed cold and detached.

“Speak your mind quickly.”

Jasper hesitated for a long stretch, intimidated by Silas’s unwavering stare.

“I came to say I don’t want you inserting yourself between Clara and me.”

Silas let out a quiet, mocking chuckle.

“If I recall correctly, you ended your relationship with her in front of everyone last week.”

Jasper’s face went rigid with panic, rushing to defend himself.

“All couples fight and make up again.”

“That’s not an excuse for your behavior.” Silas’s voice was soft, yet heavy enough to sink into my chest.

“A gentleman never criticizes a woman’s appearance to hurt her.”

“I don’t care how Hugo raised you, and I have no interest in finding out. We will compete for her fairly.”

Jasper scratched the back of his neck, defeated, and mumbled a frustrated line after a long pause.

“So many wealthy socialites would leap at the chance to marry you.
Why compete with me for Clara?”

Silas turned to walk toward his Aurelis Custom Limousine, done with the conversation entirely.

Jasper lunged forward to block his path, held back instantly by Marcus, Silas’s personal driver.

Jasper threw caution to the wind, desperate to threaten him.

“What if I tell Clara the serpent she’s been keeping as a pet is an older man obsessed with her?”

“Exposing my serpent shifter identity won’t let you escape consequences.” Silas glanced over his shoulder, and his eyes locked straight onto mine where I hid watching.

Silas froze completely, shock flooding his features.

I stepped out from behind the hedge to run after him.

He spun on his heel and fled, leaving nothing but the limousine’s taillights vanishing down the street.

Why run from me? I’d never told him I wanted him gone.

Give my serpent back to me.

Jasper sprinted after Silas’s car without a second thought.

I stood alone on the empty lawn, surrounded by chattering floating overlays.

[Silas’s world crumbled the second he spotted Clara spying on their talk.]

[He can’t hide his cute serpent form to win her over anymore.]

[He’s heartbroken sitting in that limousine alone.]

I wanted to explain I held no judgment about his dual forms.

I realized, to my horror, I didn’t have any way to contact Silas at all.

I decided to wait for him to reach out first.
