When the Luna Vanished Chapter 09

When the Luna Vanished Chapter 09

All of it—the pain, the love, the betrayal—came to me in fragments, in dreams that felt too vivid to be mere dreams. They were messages, I suppose. Final whispers from the life of Celeste Brown, a ghost from another world settling her accounts in my subconscious.

Those memories still felt vivid, sharp enough to send chills down my spine, painful enough to make my chest ache.

I shook my head, trying to cast them aside.

Issac could never have loved me.

If he had, it was a lie—nothing more than attachment to a pet who’d fetched his favor, grief at the loss of convenience.

A man who’d let his own children die? He was incapable of true affection.

Besides, I was happy now. Without that dream, I might have never remembered that cruel life at all.

I took a deep breath, reaching for the door to step outside—when a knock echoed through the room.

I opened it. In the next second, Issac burst in and crushed me in his arms.

He’d spared the warlock’s life. In return, the warlock had used magic to send him to my world.

“Celeste! I found you!” he gasped. “I knew you weren’t dead—I knew it!”

A cold, metallic stench of blood filled my nostrils.

I trembled uncontrollably, but forced myself to push him away roughly.

“You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Celeste!”

“And I don’t know you. I’m calling the police!”

His eyes blazed crimson, “Celeste, I know everything now. I was a fool—I didn’t see my own feelings, didn’t stop hurting you. Please, give me a chance. I’ll do anything!”

“Come back with me. From now on, it’s just you and me. Please?”

Fear prickled across my scalp.

I stumbled backward, “No. No! I’m not going back. I have a happy home here, people who love me. I’d die before returning to that hellhole!”

I raced to the kitchen, grabbing a knife.

“Leave. Now. If you don’t, I’ll kill you!”

Issac’s eyes glistened with tears, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.

“Celeste, don’t threaten me. Murder is a crime.”

When I said nothing, his expression softened into wounded pleading.

“Can’t you be kind to me? Once, you loved me—you cared for me so deeply!”

“I’m truly sorry. Just one more chance, and I’ll never let anyone come between us again!”

He stepped closer, reaching for my hand—convinced I wouldn’t dare act.

But I drove the knife straight into his heart.

I watched as the blood pooled on the floor, then vanished without a trace. My voice shook, but held unshakable resolve.

“You’re wrong, Issac. I stopped loving you a long time ago. I once dreamed of staying with you forever—but you destroyed that love with your own hands. I don’t need you, and I’ll never return to that disgusting life!”

“You’re an illegal here—no one knows you. Even if I killed you, no one would ever find out.”

As shock and terror flooded his eyes, my racing heart calmed.

The moment I pulled the knife free, his body turned translucent—then vanished completely.

Not a drop of blood stained the blade.

I exhaled, slamming the door shut and locking it.

For a moment, my mind went blank—as if I’d forgotten something important.

But if it could be forgotten, it must not have mattered.
