When the Luna Vanished Chapter 08

When the Luna Vanished Chapter 08

Issac raced to the pack dungeons without delay.

The warlock cowered in a corner, bloodied and trembling. Rage coiled in Issac’s chest, ready to strike.

“I’ll count to three,” he snarled. “If you stay silent, I’ll cut out your tongue—you’ll never speak again!”

The man broke.

The dam of fear and pain gave way, and he scrambled forward on his knees, forehead thudding against the filthy floor in a frantic, abject kowtow. “Miss Layla!” he babbled, a river of words pouring from a broken dam.

“It was all her! She came to me—she knew my family, where they lived. She said… she said if I didn’t play my part, if I didn’t say the Luna’s heart’s blood was the only cure, she’d have them slaughtered in their beds! I’m a coward, Alpha! A wretched coward! My children… they’re so small…” He sobbed, the sound wet and broken.

“Mercy! I beg you, on the Moon’s grace, mercy!”

Issac grabbed a longsword from the wall, swinging it down to hack off the warlock’s remaining hand.

His eyes blazed crimson, “Bring Layra Clark here—now!”

When Layra was dragged into the dungeon, the stench of blood hit her first.

She knew—her secrets had unraveled.

Issac kicked her to the ground.

“You venomous witch!” he roared. “I tolerated you killing our five children—but why couldn’t you spare Celeste? She was your sister, the one you replaced for over twenty years! When did you become so cruel?”

A long-hidden illness flared as the kick landed. Layra coughed up blood, wiping it away with a bitter laugh.

“Cruel? I learned it from you, Alpha!”

“She destroyed my home, stole my parents, tried to take my husband—I hated her more than death!”

Issac’s jaw tightened, “If you hadn’t been swapped at birth, none of this would’ve been yours to begin with!”

Layra’s laughter echoed through the dungeon, “Issac Bennett, you hypocrite!”

“You promised! You said you’d love me forever—whether I was the true heir or not! That Silvermoon Pack would always be my home! That even if I couldn’t bear children, you’d never leave me! I believed you!”

“But you? You fell for the woman who wanted to take everything from me! Every time you touched her, every time you let her carry your child, every time you cared for her—I burned with jealousy! You broke your promise first! I only eliminated the threat because I loved you—what’s wrong with that?”

“Yes, I killed those children! And if I’m guilty, so are you! You condoned every crime—you let me murder our daughters, let me destroy Celeste! You’re just as guilty!”

Crack!

Issac’s fist slammed into her face.

“Layra Clark, you’re insane!”

He panted, chest heaving with rage, “Lock every member of Silvermoon Pack in the dungeons!”

A week later, the pack court convened.

Layra Clark was sentenced to death for the murder of Celeste Brown and their five daughters.

As her final punishment, she was forced to crawl on her knees from the dungeon to the forest chapel every dawn, praying for Celeste’s forgiveness until her execution.

Silvermoon Pack’s assets were seized, and its leaders sentenced to forty years in the pack’s maximum security prison.

Overnight, Silvermoon Pack—once a power in the Northern Territories—collapsed into ruin.
