While Watching Drama, the Heroine Warned Me About My Best Friend Chapter 05

I stared wide-eyed at the old woman, utterly stunned.

Erving opened his mouth but stood there dumbfounded.

Even Celia, lying in bed, was completely shocked. She sat up halfway, her face pale. “She’s… your

mom?”

The old woman snorted and slapped Frank on the back of his head. “You good-for-nothing! I haven’t seen you in years, and now you’ve learned to hit people?”

Frank flinched and stammered, “Mom… let me explain. That bitch killed your grandchild. My wife is still lying here-how could I not be furious?”

The old woman snorted and turned to look at Celia in the hospital bed. “Your wife? This thing?”

Celia’s eyes reddened, her voice trembling. “Mom, I know you don’t like me, but that was your own grandchild…”

The old woman spat right at her. “Pfft! So you’re the fox that’s been fooling my son! You’ve had him slaving away for you for years without once going home to see his mother. Now you suddenly know how to call me ‘Mom’?”

The nurses exchanged glances, clearly not expecting the plot to twist this way.

I stood in the corner and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Celia bit her lip, tears streaming down. “Mom, even if you hate me, you can’t protect the murderer who killed your grandchild…”

Erving recovered and stepped forward. “Yes, Auntie. Celia just lost her baby. How can you side with an outsider and bully her like this?”

The old woman whipped around and looked him up and down. “And who are you?”

Erving choked, a flash of embarrassment on his face. “I’m Celia’s friend.”

He glanced at me with disgust and added, “And Vera’s ex-boyfriend. But killing your grandchild— that was all Vera’s doing. It has nothing to do with me.”

The old woman glanced at me, then looked back at Erving with disdain. “Young lady, your taste

isn’t great either.”

I gave a dry laugh. “Yeah, it wasn’t. Good thing we already broke up.”

The old woman narrowed her eyes at Erving, who had been hovering close to Celia, and said coldly, “I’d say you’re a pretty special kind of friend-more attentive than my own son.”

Frank’s expression shifted as he turned to look at them.

I secretly cheered for the old woman in my mind. The older, the wiser-she could spot the key issue

at a glance.

Celia paled, panic flashing briefly in her eyes. “Mom, how can you misunderstand Erving and me? We’re just ordinary friends.”

Erving waved his hands hurriedly, stammering, “I just couldn’t stand Vera’s evil behavior, so I exposed her true face for the sake of justice. But Celia and I are absolutely innocent-please don’t say such things.”

The old woman frowned and said, “I say one thing, and the two of you gang up to fire back ten things. Anyone would think you’re guilty of something.”
