The Alpha Let Her Humiliate Me Every Full Moon Chapter 01

Every full moon, my chosen mate, Alpha Dorian, and his “pack sister” found a new way to humiliate me, and their favorite was staging a fake bonding ceremony at my expense.

Last year, I’d let Dorian slide what looked like a ceremonial bonding band onto my finger, my pulse racing, only for the silver clasp to snap shut like a trap.

I screamed as the silver seared my skin, but Dorian and Delilah only laughed, ignoring the fact that I was on the verge of silver poisoning.

To make up for it, Dorian swore that this year he would complete the mate bond with me for real.

So when he messaged me in a panic and asked me to meet him at our old spot, I didn’t hesitate.

I braided my hair, painted my nails, and spent hours getting ready in my best dress. I even drafted our bonding announcement.

But when I pushed through the door, grinning like a fool, someone upended a bucket of ice-cold water over my head.

Delilah’s shrill laughter rang through the private room.

“Told you she’d come, Dorian! You owe me!”

Dorian brushed the water from my cheek, his voice as smooth as ever.

“You look stunning. What a waste of a beautiful dress.”

He glanced back at the group of men laughing behind him.

“The guys and I made a bet about whether I could get you to come here. I said you wouldn’t. If I won, we’d complete the mate bond tomorrow. If I lost, we’d put it off until next year.”

His smile didn’t waver.

“Sorry, but because you showed up, there won’t be a ceremony this full moon.”

I stared at him.

“So you remember what tomorrow is?”

He laughed as if the answer should have been obvious.

“Of course. It’s our six-year anniversary. How could I forget?”

Standing there drenched, I felt hollow.

Our anniversary meant less to him than their stupid games did. And I meant even less than his precious pack sister.

I pulled off the simple promise bracelet that matched the one Dorian had worn for six years.

“We’re done.”

The bracelet struck the stone floor, and the room went silent.

Dorian scowled.

“Quit being so dramatic. It’s just water. You’ll dry off.”

He glanced at Delilah before turning back to me.

“You know she used to pull much worse stunts. She’s been nice to you lately. I worked hard to get you here, so don’t make me look like the bad guy in front of everyone.”

Delilah’s bottom lip began to tremble.

“Elara, it was just a joke! If you really hate it, we’ll stop. Why are you talking about breaking up?”

She turned to Dorian, her eyes already filling with tears.

“I told you she couldn’t take a joke. Look what you started.”

She dropped onto the couch with an offended huff.

Every gaze in the room turned cold as they sided with the only female in their inner circle, their spoiled little princess.

Whenever Delilah got upset, everyone rushed to make her feel better.

Dorian was no different.

At the welcome party Delilah had thrown for me, she suggested a game of Truth or Dare.

Everyone else got harmless dares, but mine was different.

I was told to kiss a stranger.

When I said that crossed a line, Delilah’s eyes filled with tears and she ran off. Everyone, including Dorian, rushed after her.

My welcome party ended with me sitting alone.

Dorian never mentioned it again, and after that night, he stopped inviting me anywhere unless Delilah approved.

Now he was glaring at me.

“Elara, apologize to Delilah.”

Before, I would’ve swallowed my pride to fit in and keep him from looking bad in front of his packmates. I might’ve apologized before he even had to ask.

But not anymore.

My feelings had always mattered less than Delilah’s mood swings.

I finally understood that our relationship had never meant as much to him as his loyalty to his pack sister.

I grabbed my coat and the purse I’d bought for the day I was supposed to meet his parents, then faced their judgmental stares.

“Dorian, we’re over. This time, I mean it.”

I stumbled slightly in my heels as I walked out.

Just as the door closed behind me, Delilah’s voice carried through it, muffled but clear.

“You gonna chase after your little pup?”

Dorian let out a humorless laugh.

“She’s just throwing a tantrum. If I run after her now, what does that say?”

He paused.

“Don’t worry. She’s got nowhere else to go.”

His next words stopped me midstep.

“She’ll come crawling back. She’s much easier to handle than you are.”

My chest tightened, but I didn’t turn around.

He knew how deeply I feared being alone, yet he still assumed that fear would bring me back.

I kept walking. This time, he was wrong.
