His Human Luna Managed to Get Away Chapter 16 The Final Goodbye

Little by little, life iskinthyr found its own rhythm

At seven o’clock each morning, Nia’s doorbell chimed with the precision of a heartbeat.

Lorin stood amid the thin sea mist, clad in plain running sportswear, two paper cups of steaming black coffee balanced gently in his palms. “Shall we run to the lighthouse today?”

They traced the coastline at an easy jog, the pulse of the waves weaving with the rhythm of their breath.

Lorin kept a perfect distance-near enough that she never felt alone, far enough that she never felt

crowded.

‘You lean a little when you run,” he observed gently. “An old injury in your left leg?”

Nia smiled, the ache softened by time. “…A dance accident.”

He didn’t press. The next day, he showed up with knee pads. “Try these. They’ll ease joint strain on your leg.”

Jeline’s little courtyard became their quiet sanctuary.

Every Friday night, Nia brought a freshly baked apple pie,

Lorin built the fire, and the old woman cradled a mug of mulled wine, spinning tales from her younger days.

Two months of undisturbed peace slipped by like slow receding tide. Then one mild afternoon, as Nia was rearranging her bookshelf, a soft hollow thud tapped against her bedroom window.

She turned.

A crumpled paper airplane rested on the windowsill. Scrawled neatly across its wing was a single date September 1, 2017.

‘My first love letter to you.”

The voice drifted upward from the lawn below-familiar, frayed. Nia looked down and saw Soren standing in her yard, a basket of paper airplanes set at his feet.

His shirt was wrinkled. Deep purple shadows pooled beneath his eyes, the telltale mark of months spent staring through sleepless nights

Nia’s fingers hovered over the window frame for a beat of hesitation, before she reached out and unfolded the paper plane.

“Nia.

“You fell onstage today.

“But the way you set your jaw and pushed yourself back into the routine, unflinching, moved me far more

Chapter to the final Goodbye

than any flawless, effortless dance ever could.”

Buoyed by her silence, Suren sent plane after plane arcing toward her window. Each glided perfectly across the yard to land lightly at her feet.

And Nia, as if driven to reopen every wound, opened them one by one and read.

“Number 673.” Soren’s voice had gone hoarse>

This time, the plane didn’t make it through-it wedged itself in the frame.

Nia hesitated only a moment, then took it.

“Nia,

“Today you said ‘I love you.’

Prat

“I froze for so long you assumed I hadn’t heard. Your eyes were already glistening, on the verge of tears.

“But, the truth is, I was just thinking-

“what good thing did I ever do, to earn devotion from someone like you?”

A tear splashed onto the paper, blurring the word “love.”

Nia snapped the letter shut as if it had burned her.

Outside, Soren still stood in the same spot. Sunlight pooled around him, but none of it reached his hollov

eyes.

“The Last one.” He held up the final paper airplane/his voice barely above a whisper. “Number 999.”

The plane spun in a lazy arc and drifted into her palm.

“Nia,

“Tomorrow we’ll get married.

“I practiced my wedding signature thirty times, and it still looks messy and clumsy.

“If you hate my handwriting….

“…you will have to bear it for the rest of your life.”

Nia’s vision swam with blurred edges. She was pulled back to their wedding day: Soren had fumbled nervously with the ring box, nearly dropping the band. Yet the moment he slipped it onto her ring finger. his hands were unnervingly steady, no tremor in sight.

He had whispered against her ear then. “I’m never taking this off.”

“Nia, we have all these memories,” Soren’s voice cut through her reverie, trembling with fragile.desperate hope. “Do you… remember?”

Of course I remember.”

Nia lifted her head, pulling herself track from the undertow of old nostalgia.

“Soren, do you know why I left?” she asked quietly. “It was never hatred. It was because-”

She paused, searching for words that wouldn’t shatter.

“I refused to watch those tender, perfect memortes curdle into something ugly and unrecognizable”

Soren went rigid, as if drenched in ice water.

“Every time I see you, I remember how you hurt me,” Nia said, her voice soft but each syllable a blade. “B then I also remember how you used to love me.”

“Those two memories tear me in two. They leave me no clean, untarnished fragment of the past to hold onto.”

Tears spilled silently down her cheeks. “So please… let me go. And let yourself go too.”

Soren’s face settled into a blank, hollow devastation.

He had clung to a naive illusion: that she had left in a surge of hurt anger, that lingering love still remained, that they could somehow rewrite the past.

Now he understood. She had truly let go.

Not out of spite. Not out of revenge. She had simply and thoroughly excised the name “Soren Shaw” from her life.

Those wounds were not cracks that time could mend. They were a ravine that would always lie between them.

“Very well…”

Soren’s words came out as a weary exhale. “Coming here was nothing but a final gamble. I could not bear for only the worst version of me to remain in your mind. Even with a one-in-ten-thousand chance. I had to try.”

He lowered his eyes. “…Some mistakes, once made, can never be undone.”

“Nia, from today on, I will bury my love for you. Somewhere hidden, where no one can uncover it-not even myself.”

He raised his head and looked at her one last time, as if trying to etch her face into the marrow of his

bones.

“I won’t come again.”

He turned and walked away. In the sunlight, his silhouette looked unbearably thin.

Nia watched him disappear. A strange, hollow unreality settled over her.

The paper airplanes on the windowsill rustled softly in the breeze.

She looked down and saw on the back of the last love letter, a new line of small, trembling handwriting

“I’m sorry. And… thank you for loving me once.

Her tears finally broke free in full.

Not for him. But for the girl she used to be-the one who had given her whole heart to him. For the innocent days that would never return.

In the distance, Soren’s figure slowly faded into the end of the road.

This time, he truly meant to vanish from her world.
