She Called Him Controlling I Called Him My Ticket To Ivy Chapter 02

At the same time, more comments flashed before my eyes.

[This side chick is so greedy, wanting to be a kept woman the second she latches on to him.]

[Too bad this guy hates gold diggers the most; he likes girls who strive for more.]

[Just wait, he won’t reply. He despises this type the most.]

My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly fired off another message: [I mean, I want to drop out and retake the SAT. Can you help me with that?]

Seconds ticked by.

I stared at the screen, my palms sweating profusely.

One minute.

Two minutes.

Just as I started to fear he’d figured out I wasn’t the real person and would never reply, a new message popped up: [Sure.]

The day after I got that message, I got a phone call.

The man on the line said he was Luke Carter, Mr. Kent’s secretary, and asked me to bring my identification documents to a café near the college for a talk about retaking the SAT.

Even though Stella had never given him any personal details when they chatted, I was on edge the whole time I headed there.

Thankfully, Luke just glanced at my documents and said nothing, then asked if I had a target university in mind.

I felt a little embarrassed and said, “I want to get into Kenilworth University.”

Luke looked surprised.

The comments blew up again, too.

[Seriously? Does this side chick have any idea what Kenilworth is? She thinks she can just drop out and get in?]

[Is this girl actually stupid enough to think the old man can buy her a Kenilworth University acceptance letter?]

[You’re only good enough for community college, just stay there and stop dreaming.]

I knew it sounded ridiculous.

But what student from the Midwest hadn’t dreamed of getting into Kenilworth University?

I’d only ended up in community college because I’d had a high fever and missed one entire section of the SAT.

After I got my scores, I wanted to retake it.

But my parents had refused. They wanted me to graduate sooner and start working sooner so I could help support my younger brother.

Even so, my SAT score had still been over a hundred points higher than Stella’s and the others’.

I’d fully expected Luke to tell me to stop daydreaming, just like the commenters did, but instead he just nodded and said, “Alright then, we’ll draw up a plan for you to get into Kenilworth University, Ms. Clarkson.”

I asked him what the plan would entail.

Luke said he’d first handle my withdrawal from the college, then he’d help me get a Kenilworth residency, and hire top private tutors to give me one-on-one lessons.

I was stunned when I heard that.

A Kenilworth residency?

Did that mean I’d be able to take the exam there?

And one-on-one tutoring with top teachers?

If I’d had that back then, I never would have had to guess my way through the last math problem on the exam.

I took a deep breath, forcing my voice to stay calm, and said, “Luke, how much will all this cost?”

Luke said, “You don’t have to worry about the cost, Ms. Clarkson. Mr. Kent will take care of everything.”

After our talk, Luke took me to a shopping mall, saying Mr. Kent had told him to buy me some new clothes and a new phone.

It was during this trip that I found out the old man’s name was Josiah Kent. He’d started his own business, a small company, and was currently expanding overseas, so he wouldn’t be back for at least a year.

I snuck out my phone and looked up this name online.

Luke had made it sound like a tiny little business, but when I saw the words Kent Group on the screen, I was blown away.

A small company?

No. Freaking. Way.
