The photos were taken by Merrick while I slept.

A hollow numbness spread through me.

One night had been enough for them to scatter the photos everywhere.

Just two days earlier, Merrick had promised, “I’ll take responsibility. After graduation, we’ll get married.”

He had poured drink after drink for me. When he looked at me with those warm deep brown eyes, I had stopped thinking altogether.

He dragged me back to the bed again and again, drowning me in his desire.

And stupidly, I believed he loved me.

Seeing me silent, my mother kept shouting, “Say something. Who took these? Did he mark you? If people see these photos, the Alpha family will never be able to show their faces in the Dark Forest Pack.”

She never cared about me. Only her image as the Luna.

When I finally said Merrick’s name, she froze.

Then she scolded me. “Why would you get involved with the heir of Wolfspire Pack? We can’t afford to offend someone like him. And you agreed to sleep with him. Even with proof, no one can blame him for anything.”

I stared at her in disbelief.

She looked away. “The photos have already been taken down. After some time, no one will remember.”

Merrick came from the powerful Wolfspire Pack. Dark Forest Pack never stood a chance against them.

When the door closed, I saw Kieran standing at the stairs, grinning, eyes gleaming with triumph.

He had expected this outcome. The truth didn’t matter anymore.

A heavy wave of helplessness swallowed me whole.

I collapsed in the corner, crying uncontrollably. My phone started buzzing nonstop.

Dozens of unknown numbers sent disgusting messages, making me sick.

My hands trembled as I blocked them one by one.

My mother claimed she had arranged a long leave for me, so I didn’t have to attend school.

I didn’t want her knowing I was going abroad, so I had to return to school alone to handle the withdrawal paperwork.

She never cared about me anyway. She wouldn’t notice if I was gone.

The photos had been deleted, but everyone already knew.

Their stares were filled with judgment and ridicule, whispers trailing behind me.

“Who would’ve guessed? She always looked innocent. Turns out she’s sleeping around. Who knows how many guys she’s been with.”

“Stay away from her. You don’t know what she might have caught.”

Shame wrapped around me like a chokehold.

My chest tightened painfully. I didn’t even know how I walked off campus. Half in a daze, I found myself stopped by several wolves coming toward me.

Maybe it was my imagination, but I smelled traces of Kieran and Merrick on them.

The one in front pulled up a photo of me on his phone, eyeing me from head to toe.

“This is you, right? Nice body.”

“Since you like sleeping around so much, how much for a night?”

“Why don’t you have some fun with us? I want to see what Merrick’s girlfriend tastes like.”

My whole body stiffened. I stepped back. “What do you want?”

They exchanged perverse grins and grabbed me, dragging me into a dark alley.

They forced me to the ground, pinning my limbs. I couldn’t break free, could only watch their filthy hands reaching for me.

The sound of fabric tearing rang in my ears.

“Stop struggling. No one’s coming to save you. Make us happy and maybe we’ll go easy on you.”

I thrashed wildly, kicking uselessly, blood filling my mouth from biting down too hard.

While they were tugging at their clothes, I reached into my bag and pulled out the knife I’d hidden inside.
