Wendy was left utterly dumbfounded by my outburst. She merely stood there in a daze, her eyes brimming with tears.

Christian protectively pulled Wendy behind him before snapping at me, “What the hell is wrong with you, Yvonne? You’re scaring Wendy! Why do you keep picking on Wendy on purpose, even though you know how pure-hearted she is?”

I rolled my eyes in annoyance and ignored them completely. I looked toward the exam officials and invigilators and asked, “I haven’t actually broken any rules or committed a crime since I didn’t take part nor cheat on the SAT, right?”

Upon hearing that, the invigilator nodded in assent and said, “I’m so sorry. It seems that we’ve misunderstood what happened

earlier.”

Christian sneered and said mockingly, “You probably planned to cheat on the SAT all along; after all, you already had your cheat sheets ready. You probably got cold feet once the bell rang and decided to abandon the SAT.”

In that instant, the crowd around me began pointing and whispering about me again.

“I bet she just got cold feet at the last second and bailed on the SAT

“Why bother making the cheat sheet in the first place if she wasn’t planning on cheating? She clearly wanted to do it, but just didn’t have the guts to go through with it.”

I smiled faintly and looked at the invigilator, saying, “I suspect someone deliberately framed me. I didn’t write the cheat sheet on the admission ticket. I would have been accused of cheating, disqualified, and perhaps even imprisoned if I had actually taken the SAT today.”

Upon hearing that, the invigilator furrowed his brow and asked, “You mean someone intentionally wrote the cheat sheet on your admission ticket with a special pen to set you up? Are you certain about this? If so, it’s a criminal matter, and we will have to involve the police.”

I nodded, replying, “I’m absolutely certain about this. I didn’t write any of those things on the admission ticket, so I want to report this to the police and have a forensics expert check the script. I want to identify the individual responsible for this attempt to sabotage me.”

I glanced at Wendy the moment I brought up getting the police involved.

Wendy was clearly panicking now, her whole body trembling at the mention of an investigation. She suddenly turned to me the moment she noticed the invigilator taking out his phone. “Hold on Yvonne! You don’t have to get the police involved now. You didn’t get into any trouble anyway, so there’s no need to make a big deal out of this and bother the police.”

I chuckled softly in response. “You want me to drop it since I didn’t get into any trouble? I’ve been meaning to ask you this, Wendy. Why did you frame me for cheating? How did you know that the writing on the admission ticket would show up once it got wet?”

Wendy was at a loss for words. She turned red in embarrassment as she stammered, “I-I don’t know anything! You’re picking on me, Yvonne! I only thought you were cheating because I saw you writing on your admission ticket yesterday! I swear I accidentally spilled the water just now!”

I grabbed Wendy by her collar and said, “You’d better drop the act and tell me the truth this instant, Wendy. You’re the main suspect here. If you keep playing the part of a helpless, brain-dead toddler, I’m going to make sure the police are the ones doing the questioning.”

Wendy shoved me away and threw herself into Christian’s arms. “Help me, Christian! I can’t go to prison! I still have to take my SAT! You’re clearly trying to ruin my SAT, Yvonne! Why are you being so malicious toward me?”

Christian glared at me and yelled, “You don’t have to ruin Wendy’s chance at the SAT just because you bailed on it yourself, Yvonne! You’re being so malicious!”

It was then that the people around me tried to dissuade me. “You should probably handle the police report after the SAT. I mean, we’ve all studied for over a decade for this exam. It would be a shame to see someone’s future ruined over a dispute right now.”
