After Forcing Me to Speak, They Regretted Everything Chapter 10

After Forcing Me to Speak, They Regretted Everything Chapter 10

I pushed open the heavy iron door to the rooftop, and the gale instantly filled my empty jacket.

From the corridor below, Archie’s screams had already fallen completely silent.

Dragging my broken leg, I stepped across the scattered rubble and made my way step by step to the very edge of the building. In the distance, the survival base had long since been reduced to a

desolate, deathly silent ruin.

A broken, rasping breath, like a ruptured bellows, rattled from my chest. I suddenly coughed up a

huge mouthful of black blood, thick with fragments of my own internal organs.

Without the rune’s suppression and the power’s support, my life force had been drained to its absolute limit. Even this physical body was marching irreversibly toward death.

I wouldn’t live past today.

But it didn’t matter. A peace I had never known before filled my heart.

The cold wind sliced at my face like knives. I tilted my head back and looked up at the gray, turbid

sky overhead.

This damn apocalypse had magnified the world’s evil desires a thousandfold.

On this empty, silent rooftop, there was no base. No runes. No demons threatening my life to force

me to speak. No one left to judge me. No one left to morally me with grand causes.

I closed my eyes and felt that last, faint sliver of warmth hidden deep within my body.

That was my life.

I extracted it, drop by painstaking drop, and gathered it all at my withered, dried-up throat.

A tearing, searing agony shot along my vocal cords and pierced straight into my brain. My eyes

flew open, and I stared dead at the surging horde of corpses below.

“Apocalypse.”

Two words left my lips, and my mouth split open instantly. Blood flooded into my windpipe.

I swallowed the bloody foam by force and, using every last ounce of strength I had left in this world, faced the gray dome of the sky and declared one word at a time-

“End it.”

Hummmmm-

The moment the words fell, an invisible ripple surged outward from my body, sweeping across the

entire city.

Time itself seemed to press pause.

For a hundred miles around, millions of raging, roaring zombies froze dead in their tracks in the very same second. They remained locked in their poses of lunging, climbing, and prowling. The last eerie glimmer of light in their gray-white eyes flickered out abruptly. Then, like a sand sculpture weathered for a thousand years, the first zombie’s body crumbled apart with a thunderous roar.

Then ten. Then a hundred. Then millions upon millions.

The monsters across the entire city didn’t even have time to let out a single howl before they

collapsed to the ground in unison. Flesh melted away. Bones dissolved to ash. In just a few short

seconds, the entire horde across the city turned into a sky full of swirling white dust, scattering

completely into the ruins with the violent wind.

Not a single zombie could ever stand again.

The infected viruses, the twisted monsters-along with these three deformed years-were all

utterly erased by this final law.

A blinding beam of golden light suddenly pierced through the thick cloud layer.

The sun-unseen for three long years-poured down without obstruction onto this ruined land, now

greeting its rebirth.

The sunlight was so warm.

I leaned against the cold concrete railing, and, utterly drained of strength, slowly slid down the wall

to sit on the ground.

My eyelids grew heavier and heavier. The only sound left in my ears was the clean, untainted wind

brushing past the skyscraper.

It was finally over.

I tugged at the corner of my mouth, faced the long lost sunlight, and slowly closed my eyes.
