The Laziest Girl Alive Chapter 03

The Laziest Girl Alive Chapter 03

Chloe had no intention of letting it go.

Her little mistake last time had earned her a wave of sympathy on camera, but it also made her look a bit clumsy and stupid.

She needed to recover her image and remind everyone that she was supposed to be the perfect overachiever.

So she pulled out her tablet.

“Ethan, Nora, come look at this.”

She set the tablet down on the coffee table, her voice bubbling with excitement.

“I’ve been reading Adler’s graduate physics forum lately. A bunch of people there are discussing old International Physics Olympiad problems, and I found one that’s really interesting. Want to try it together?”

As she spoke, she looked over at me with exaggerated concern.

“Nora, you should take a look too. I know you never even went to high school, so it might be a little hard, but it’s okay. I can walk you through it slowly.”

Her fans flooded the chat instantly.

[Wow, Chloe really is an Adler overachiever. Look at the kind of stuff she reads.]

[Is she tutoring her future sister-in-law now? She’s seriously too sweet.]

[What would Nora even understand? Don’t waste Chloe’s time on her.]

I was half-asleep, drifting somewhere between a nap and oblivion, when I felt someone gently nudging me.

It was my brother.

“Nora, wake up. Chloe’s calling you,” he murmured.

I made a frustrated noise and buried my face deeper into the pillow.

Sleep was humanity’s greatest invention.

Anyone who interrupted mine was my enemy.

“Nora, just take a look, okay? Just give it one glance,” Chloe chimed in again, her voice sugary enough to cause cavities.

“This problem is supposed to be really challenging. The standard solution is super complicated, and apparently fewer than ten people managed to finish it back then.”

This was so annoying.

I pushed myself halfway upright, my hair a total bird’s nest as I squinted sleepily at the screen.

The moment Chloe saw I was finally reacting, she perked right up and launched into an enthusiastic explanation.

“See, the key here is to build an auxiliary function and then use…”

“No need,” I cut in.

Her words died in her throat as she stared at me.

I lifted a finger and pointed toward the tablet from where I was.

“Start from this singular point. You can get the result in three steps.”

I paused for a beat, then added, “I’m guessing even the people who wrote the problem didn’t notice that solution.”

Chloe’s face froze.

She hadn’t understood a single thing I said.

Ethan stared too, looking from me to the mess of symbols on the screen, that probing look in his eyes growing even sharper.

“Way too easy,” I concluded.

Then I fell back onto the couch, pulled the blanket over my head again, and said, “Perfect for putting me to sleep.”
