The Man I Mourned for Six Years, the Man She’s Been Living With Chapter 09

After that day, Noah and I visited my foster mother’s grave together. Then we left the country.

He taught me how to navigate the business world. He gave me the tools to build a better life for

myself.

He took me to art galleries. He encouraged me to read. To exercise.

He helped me heal, inside and out.

Six months later, Noah proposed to me in a small coffee shop.

No grand gestures. No massive displays of flowers.

He just placed the ring in front of me and looked at me with sincere eyes.

“Olivia, will you give me the chance to be there for you?”

I stared at the ring, then at his earnest face. Finally, I laughed softly and nodded.

While I was trying on wedding dresses, a news alert popped up on my phone.

[Former City Elite and Ex-Wife Found Dead After Jumping from Bridge.]

It was Ethan and Aria.

Aria had been released after a year and a half in custody.

She had left the marriage with nothing. During her years with Ethan, she had gotten used to easy money. She couldn’t handle hard work.

She started dancing at a bar.

With her looks, she caught the attention of a flashy rich guy. After he had his fun, he passed her off to a man thirty years her senior, as a business favor.

That man abused her until she was barely recognizable. One night, she escaped while he was asleep.

On the run, she saw Ethan sitting drunk on the edge of Ravenswood Bridge.

She ran at him like she’d lost control, scratching and hitting him. “Ethan, you heartless bastard! I gave you the best years of my life, and you threw me in jail?”

Ethan was already agitated. Seeing the woman who had caused all his pain, he exploded. “You bitch. You have the nerve to come near me? If it weren’t for you, Olivia would still be with me.”

They fought. And they fell.

Aria, still conscious, tried to swim to safety. But Ethan grabbed her ankle and held on tight.

Both of them drowned.

Seven years ago, when he had “died,” I almost followed him.

Now, seven years later, he was really dead. And my heart felt nothing.

My love for him had long since burned out. The space it left behind had been slowly filled by

someone else.

I put down my phone, pulled back the curtain, and looked at the man sitting on the sofa.

“How do I look?”

Noah’s eyes

lit up.

Then they reddened. He walked over quickly and pulled me into his arms.

His voice was thick with emotion. “Olivia, everything in my life led me here, to you. From now on, I’ll always be there for you.”

I wrapped my arms around his waist, leaned against his warm chest, and nodded.

Mom… I’m going to be okay now.

Thirty isn’t the end. It’s just the beginning.
