Aaron frowned and reached out to help me up.

I screamed at him before I could stop myself.

“Don’t touch me! You’re filthy!”

Aaron stared at my belly and sighed. “Calm down, Di. Don’t be like this.”

“I’m not trying to leave you. I mean it.”

The words made my stomach turn.

If I’d never met him, my wolf might never have found her fated mate.

But we could have found a chosen mate. Someone man who loved only me.

And I would have loved only him.

I could have had a love that was clean.

I could have still received the blessing of The Moon Goddess.

But Aaron had hidden the truth about Juliet.

On the surface, he acted like he loved me deeply.

In reality, he only loved Juliet.

He lied to me. He destroyed everything I believed love was supposed to be.

I grabbed my phone and hurled it at him.

“Cancel the mate ceremony.”

“We’re breaking the bond. Right now.”

Aaron froze. A few seconds later, his expression went cold.

His voice dripped with sarcasm and smug certainty.

“You’re just an Omega from a broken home.”

“Your rigid, foolish mother would never allow you to leave me while you’re carrying my pup.”

I never imagined Aaron would use my family against me.

My father was a hopeless drunk. Every time he drank, he turned violent.

He and my mother were fated mates.

But their happiness lasted less than a year.

Then he started cheating. He’d go out with other she-wolves and not come home until late at night.

He’d come home smelling of some she-wolf’s perfume, sometimes with lipstick stains still on his clothes.

Wolf Council made this law clear—anyone who cheated after a mate ceremony faced punishment.

For fated mates, the penalties were even harsher.

But my rigid, foolish mother always said, “Breaking a mate bond with your fated mate is defying The Moon Goddess. That’s unforgivable.”

She got pregnant, believing a pup would keep her mate by her side.

Instead, he cheated on her even more brazenly while she was pregnant.

He even brought other she-wolves home.

One day, he looked at my mother with a disgusting grin.

“Bitch, want to join us?”

“I heard pregnant women have even more fun.”

My mother refused. He beat her for it.

Even then, she clung to that abusive werewolf.

She always said, “A she-wolf without her fated mate is pitiful.”

“She’ll be condemned forever and never find peace.”

But reality showed her no mercy.

Not long after I was born, my father pointed at her and cursed.

“Bitch, you’re boring in bed!”

“You’re obviously a whore, but you keep pretending you’re not.”

“What a hypocrite! I’m done with you.”

Then he left. He ran away with his chosen mate.

My mother never changed.

She spent her entire life guarding a hollow mate bond.

And she tried to force those beliefs onto me.

Aaron knew that wound better than anyone.

He knew exactly where it hurt. And he still used it as a weapon.

It felt as though he’d taken a silver blade and carved my heart into pieces.

And each piece was being gnawed on, corroded, pierced through.

My wolf hurt so badly she could barely endure it.

She howled until her voice gave out.

We were so lost in our pain that neither of us even noticed when Aaron left.

After that day, Aaron and I fell into a cold silence.

I moved back into my mother’s small house.

Just as Aaron had said, she wasn’t on my side.

When he came to get me, she practically couldn’t wait to send me off with him.

“Alpha Aaron is already giving you a way out. What more do you want?”

I nearly begged her. “Mom, tell him to go.”

“I want to break the mate bond.”

The moment she heard that, she exploded with rage.
