The whole room erupted, the noise almost lifting the roof.

Even Emma Brooks was screaming.

I couldn’t take it.

“Then pretend my taste is bad.”

“Fine. Even if he’s real.”

Ethan Carter leaned slightly toward me, his voice low by my ear.

“Then dump him and come back to me.”

His deep voice was like a spell, dangerously tempting.

I almost gave in.

After all these years, Ethan Carter could still dance all over my exact type. Annoying, naturally. Humanity survives on weak judgment.

After the ceremony ended, old classmates came to drink with me.

“Waaah, I’m almost forgetting what they taste like.”

Because of the alcohol, I rambled incoherently.

Ethan Carter patiently comforted me.

My last memory was him placing me on his sofa.
