I’ve Been Suspicious Since The Day I Was Born Chapter 13

I looked at my parents. Their faces weren’t just angry—they were shattered.

“You always thought my paranoia was natural,” I said. “That I was born broken. But think back—I was normal before middle school. Why did I get so much worse in high school?”

I walked to Mrs. Shaw and looked down at her.

“Because from freshman year, she was drugging my food. She wanted me to go crazy. To self-destruct. To trade my life for her daughter’s future.”

My dad stumbled back onto the sofa.

He stared at the woman he’d trusted for ten years like she was a demon.

“Why?” My mom screamed. “What did we ever do to you? Ten years! We treated you like family! We paid you well, gave you bonuses, paid for Nina’s school! Why?”

Mrs. Shaw stopped pretending.

She shoved my mom aside and stood up, her face twisted with bitterness.

“Family? Don’t make me laugh. You treated me like a trained dog. I slaved for you—cooking, cleaning, everything. And what did you do? Sat there on your high horses, enjoying it all. What gave you the right?”
