Walking Out On My Husband Chapter 12

Walking Out On My Husband Chapter 12

This time, I gave him a reason.

“Julian, you don’t love me. Why keep pretending?”

“I’ve been your wife for seven years. I could’ve been the mother of your children. But every single time it comes to Lily, I come last. That alone doesn’t make sense.”

I paused. A dry smile crossed my face.

“Even my mother has to rank below hers.”

Julian had no fight left. His head hung low.

“I’ll change. I swear.”

“I don’t want to wait anymore.”

These past few days, I’d been thinking clearly for the first time.

And I realized all that sweetness I thought we had was just me forcing it.

Start to finish, it was one-sided.

I could take the hits. I could swallow my pride. But my mother? Nobody gets to treat her like that.

When I said that, Julian’s tears hit the ground.

He regretted it.

He could’ve stayed that night instead of running to Lily. Why did he go?

He could’ve come to apologize sooner. Why did he wait?

He heard every word Susan said that day. Why did he pretend he didn’t?

These past days alone in that empty apartment, his chest had been splitting open.

He was too confident. Convinced I’d never leave.

Convinced he was the one in control.

But he was wrong. I didn’t need him anymore.

I didn’t stay. I turned and walked inside.

Julian stayed outside for a long time.

Until the dark swallowed him whole.

Three days later, while I was putting together the court filing, he caved.

I went to sign the papers immediately.

But he surprised me. He gave me eighty percent of the savings.

Lily was furious. She posted on social media, trashing me without saying my name.

I didn’t bother. In the end, I was the one who came out ahead.

A little over a year later, things blew up between them.

Julian got a new girlfriend. Susan showed up at the girl’s office, caused a scene, and slapped her.

Julian called the cops. The whole thing was a mess.

I watched from the sidelines and laughed.

As for me, things with my new boyfriend were going well.

Life moved on. Quiet. Steady.

Mom started visiting more often. Every three months, she’d come stay for a few days.

I looked forward to those days.

Because during those days, I got to just be someone’s daughter.
