He was lost.

He couldn’t hear what his friends were saying.

Only one sentence repeated over and over in his head.

Ava was married.

Ava was another man’s bride.

But she had loved him her whole life.

Where else could she go?

His parents wouldn’t have been comfortable with her marrying someone else anyway.

Everyone just assumed they would get married one day.
