He Called Divorce Papers A Joke I Called It Done Chapter 05

“Can you forgive me now?”

“Get on your knees and beg, and I’ll think about it…”

“Please, Harper… whatever you want…”

“Tell me – am I better than your boring little wife, or what?”

“…”

The video played loudly, its audio filling the room. Every phone at every table was playing the same thing. Nobody moved.

There was no mistaking the voices. No mistaking the faces. Harper and Declan.

“You… you absolute disgrace—what the hell is this?”

The Quinn and Hayes families were the kind of families where reputation was everything. And right now, a room full of guests was watching Harper straddling a married man.

Harper’s father turned purple with rage. He backhanded her across the face before she could open her mouth.

“Is this what you’ve been doing?! This is how you represent this family?!”

Harper staggered sideways, hand pressed to her cheek, too stunned to speak.

“No… it’s not what it looks like…”

They’d been so sure I would show up, tail between my legs, and say sorry. It never occurred to them that the woman who’d swallowed every humiliation for years would be the one to blow their world apart.

Declan’s first instinct was to blame me. He turned to Harper’s parents, hands raised. “Mr. Quinn, Mrs. Quinn — please, let me explain.”

He stepped in front of Harper, voice racing. “My wife did this. The video’s fake — it’s edited. I’ll make Elena retract it, I swear—”

He was already pulling out his phone, dialing my number with shaking hands. I let it ring.

I watched the whole thing unfold through a friend’s livestream, halfway across the country. Even now — even with everything exploding around him — his first move was to protect her.

[Where are you? Did you send those videos?]

[Have you lost your mind?? You won’t stop until you’ve destroyed both of us, will you?]

His texts flooded in one after another, each one louder than the last. I didn’t read a single one. I just kept scrolling.

I pulled up the photo Harper had sent me anonymously — the one of Declan’s face buried in her neck. Then I sent everything else. A year’s worth. Videos of them passing drinks mouth-to-mouth. Sleeping in the same bed. Grinding on each other on the dance floor. All that “friendship.”

I sent it all. To every guest at that party. To the Hayes and Quinn family group chats. To Declan’s company. To Harper’s office. And then, because I was done being quiet, to every social media platform I could find.

I wanted the whole world to see what they’d been doing behind closed doors.

Phones lit up across the room in a second wave as the rest of the files landed. People looked down. Gasped. Harper’s grandmother gripped the edge of the table. Declan’s mother swayed in her chair like she might faint.

And then their friends turned on them.

“Declan. Harper. What the hell?”

“We’re supposed to be your friends — you two have been hooking up this whole time?”

“Holy shit. Everything Elena said was true?”

“How long has this been going on?”

The questions came from every direction. Some people looked disgusted. Others looked betrayed. A few just stared, like they were seeing Harper and Declan clearly for the first time.

“No — Liam, Wyatt, please, just listen to me—”

Harper was white as a sheet, reaching for anyone who would meet her eyes, but no one let her finish.

“You had a married man on his knees begging for you. What’s left to explain?” He stepped back, pulling his arm out of her grip like her touch burned. “Don’t touch me. You’re disgusting.”
