He Deleted My Number After 972 Messages of Love Chapter 15

The school’s broadcast studio ran music and announcements during lunch.

Students from the journalism class took turns manning the booth.

Today it was my turn, paired with a girl from the class next door.

Right after I finished reading the final announcement, someone knocked on the broadcast studio door.

My fellow announcer glanced back. Recognizing Jesse, she smiled knowingly.

“You’re here to see Chloe, right? She’s over in the admin office picking out broadcast scripts. I can run grab her for you if you want.”

Chloe had won first place in a national writing contest, so the broadcasting club often had her read her essays on air.

The studio emptied out until it was just Jesse and me.

I acted as if he wasn’t there at all, adjusting the equipment and queuing up the next song.

A voice cut in out of thin air behind me.

“How’d you end up meeting Ezra anyway?”

I had no intention of acknowledging him.

After a short pause, Jesse suddenly started crashing out out of nowhere.

“Sadie. Do you still have a crush on me?”

I stared at him in disbelief. “What is wrong with you?”

He leaned against the doorframe, his gaze fixed on me. “You avoid me like the plague every single time we cross paths. That doesn’t exactly scream ‘over me’, does it?”

His absurd words left me totally speechless.

Muffled whispers drifting from the doorway pulled my attention away.

“I swear I just heard them talking about having feelings for each other in there. Should we go in and check it out?”

It was the voice of the other announcer.

“Why would we go in? Did you forget what Chloe told us last time? Sadie’s been trying to go after her boyfriend behind her back. Now they’re alone together, and they were just talking about crushes—she’s definitely trying to make a move on Jesse again. As Chloe’s closest friends, shouldn’t we step in and keep an eye on her?”

I found the whole thing ridiculous. I turned to Jesse and asked, “What terrible thing did I ever do to you two anyway?”

Jesse didn’t answer. Instead, he kicked the door wide open.

The loud crash made both girls jump in fright.

Jesse wore a faint smirk as he stared them down. “What were you two going on about? Let me hear it too.”
