He Got the Mistress. I Got the Empire. Chapter 10

Freddy opened his mouth, ready to argue, yet no words came.

“You think I set you up? Freddy, without me, you would have achieved nothing.” I said.

He collapsed onto the floor, as if all strength had drained from his body. After a long silence, he staggered to his feet and stumbled toward the door. His back was hunched, and in that moment, he seemed to have aged ten years.

Just as he pulled the door open, a familiar figure rushed from around the corner, blocking his path.

It was Lisa.

“So it’s true… You two really made up!”

Her hair was disheveled, her bloodshot eyes wild. She looked nothing like the alluring woman she once was. The sight of Freddy emerging from my home shattered what remained of her composure.

“Freddy! Then what am I? What about our son? I’ve lost everything, and you still come crawling back to that whore?”

Already agitated, Freddy shoved her hand away in frustration.

“Enough! Who I’m with is none of your business. You chose to be with me, so you have no one to blame but yourself!”

Lisa froze, then burst into a harsh, broken laugh, tears streaming down her face.

“Blame myself? When I bore your son, did I deserve that too? And now that you’ve reconciled with Valerie, you toss us aside like trash? Freddy, I warned you… you’ll never get rid of us so easily!”

Her shrill voice drew the attention of several onlookers in the neighborhood. Freddy’s face flushed, then paled; he just wanted to shake her off and end the scene. He shoved her again, impatiently.

“Stop making a scene here!”

That push shattered the last of Lisa’s fragile restraint. Staring at his cold, unfeeling face, her eyes twisted with madness.

Before anyone could react, she yanked a fruit knife from her bag.

“If I can’t live, then neither can you!”

“Lisa, don’t!”

Freddy’s eyes went wide with terror as he stumbled back, but it was too late. Lisa lunged forward and drove the blade deep into his chest.

His scream tore through the air. Clutching his chest, he crumpled to the ground, his shirt stained with blood in seconds.

Lisa froze, staring at the bloodied knife in her hand. Then it clattered to the pavement, her face blank with shock at her own violence.

I snatched my phone and dialed both the ambulance and the police.

Through the iron gate, I watched Freddy’s breath weaken. His eyes, clouded with regret, sought mine.

“Valerie… I’m sorry. I really am… I’m sorry.”

Those were the last words he ever said to me.

The ambulance and police arrived quickly, but Freddy died on the way to the hospital, bled dry before they could save him.

Lisa was arrested on the spot for intentional homicide.

One dead, one imprisoned—thus ended this sordid triangle.

Twelve years of love, betrayal, and bitterness closed in the most brutal way imaginable.

When I returned inside, my daughter ran out, startled by the noise. I pulled her tightly into my arms.

Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she murmured, “I thought I heard Daddy’s voice.”

I hesitated, then said softly, “Yesterday, Daddy told me he was going far away, overseas—so far that he’ll never come back. Elise, will you miss Daddy?”

She was silent for a long moment before wrapping her little arms around my waist.

“No… I understand everything. Daddy is bad. He likes my brother more. I don’t want Daddy anymore. I just want Mommy and Grandpa.”

The afternoon sun streamed through the windows, warm and bright.

I held her close.

“Alright. From now on, Mommy will always protect you.”
