He Got the Mistress. I Got the Empire. Chapter 07

Yet Eugene still juttled out his chin, stubborn and defiant.

Freddy, catching sight of his son’s reckless arrogance and then of my father’s face growing colder by the second, felt a sudden surge of fury ignite in his chest.

He raised his hand without warning and delivered a sharp slap across Lisa’s face.

“This is the result of your parenting! Look at the monster you’ve spoiled him into!”

Lisa’s head snapped to the side. Her hair fell loose, and an angry red handprint bloomed across her cheek. She covered her face in disbelief, her eyes instantly brimming with tears.

“Freddy! You hit me? How could you? Does Eugene’s behavior have nothing to do with you?”

Freddy, consumed with agitation, ignored her accusations and turned toward my father, desperate to explain.

“Dad, this woman seduced me. That boy was part of her scheme. You’re a man—you know men make mistakes. But in my heart, I’ve only ever loved Valerie. I swear I’ll cut ties with them completely.”

Hearing this, Lisa lost the last shred of her composure. She clawed at his collar, her voice shrill with rage.

“You promised you’d divorce Valerie! Now that your father-in-law’s here, you want to throw me and Eugene away? I won’t let that happen! So what if her father’s a government official? You’re a wealthy businessman. This is the perfect chance—lay everything bare and divorce her!”

Her nails raked across the back of his hand, leaving bloody marks. Freddy roared in fury, his voice breaking.

“Crazy woman! Why would I ever divorce Valerie for you?”

“You heartless bastard!” Lisa screamed. “I’ve followed you all these years, gave you a son—and this is how you repay me?”

The two of them grappled, tearing at each other with no regard for the setting. The scene was ugly beyond words. Guests looked on, stunned, some edging backward in fear of being caught up, others quietly lifting their phones to record.

Eugene’s earlier arrogance had vanished. Now he stood frozen, bawling at the top of his lungs.

Just as their brawl spiraled out of control, the banquet hall doors slammed open.

A team of uniformed police strode in. The leading officer scanned the chaos with a stern gaze.

“We received a report of intentional assault and public disturbance. Who here is Freddy? Who is Lisa?”

The two froze mid-struggle.

Freddy fumbled to straighten his crooked tie, forcing a nervous smile.

“Officers, this is all a misunderstanding… Dad, please, say something.”

The officer pulled out a pair of handcuffs, his tone flat and uncompromising.

“No one can talk this away. Whether it’s a misunderstanding or not, you’ll explain it down at the station.”

My father’s secretary stepped forward calmly.

“Officer, I was the one who called. I’ll go with you to provide a full statement.”

My father didn’t even lift his eyes. His tone was cool, commanding.

“Cooperate fully. Make sure every piece of evidence is handed over—leave nothing out.”

Before the wide eyes of the assembled guests, Freddy and Lisa were cuffed and led away.

Eugene remained where he was, his face streaked with tears and snot. For the first time, he did not dare make a sound. He stood trembling, pitifully small, like an abandoned child.

Peter, undoubtedly replaying his earlier cruelty, went deathly pale. He dropped to his knees with a heavy thud and desperately slapped his own face.

“Ms. Lindt, I was blind! I’m a fool with a filthy mouth and a wicked heart—please, you have to forgive me! Don’t stoop to my level. Everything I said was garbage. You and your daughter are clearly nobility… I was just too much of an idiot to see it!”

I looked down at his groveling, pathetic display, a fresh wave of disgust washing over me. I turned my face away, refusing to grant him even a moment of my attention.

My father spared him only a cold glance. Then, with utmost care, he reached out and took Elise gently from my arms.
