I Gave Up After Failing To Pull My Lover Chapter 05

“Obviously, it’s me.”

Austin was wearing a tux that matched my wedding gown. He strode over and wrapped his hand around my waist.

“This is my wedding with Jade. I’m her groom. What are you doing here? You’re taking my place. Why are you so shameless?” he said coldly.

William frowned when he heard Austin’s words.

I wanted to push William away, but he suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me toward him.

“Austin, it’s one thing for you to be reckless and do what you please on any regular day. But today’s an important day. Stop making a fuss here.

“Jade will never marry you. She doesn’t like you at all.”

I sneered and flung his hand away.

“Why not? I drew the short straw in front of everyone, so why can’t I marry Austin?”

William said, “Because—”

Something seemed to occur to him as he suddenly stopped before snorting.

“Jade, are you doing this to exact revenge on me? You’re the type that holds a grudge. Even if I give in, you won’t be satisfied.”

He acted as though he knew what was going on.

“So, you got Austin to act as your groom and embarrass me in front of everyone.

“Then, you’ll only agree to marry me once you’re on your high horse, right?”

Feeling angry, I did not want to speak to him. I was about to ask Adam to take him away before Austin grabbed my wrist again.

Austin was furious too.

“Don’t touch my wife, you piece of trash!”

He grabbed William by the collar, but William did not react to him. Instead, he stared at me as though he did not understand what Austin just said.

“I’ve agreed to marry you, so you can ask Austin to drop the act. You don’t want to make a fool of yourself in front of all these people, right?

“Stop this futile soap opera. Even if you’re not embarrassed, your father might be—”

Austin kicked him because he could not stand it anymore.

It was a good day, so he did not want to hit William at first.

“What are you even doing here, William? You want to marry Jade? Dream on.

“Don’t think I don’t know what you did. You changed the long straw to a short one. Didn’t you do that so you wouldn’t have to marry Jade?”

After my father heard this, he trembled as he pressed his hand against his chest.

“William, is that true? Did you switch the long straw out?”

William was still lying on the floor, and his silence was enough of an answer.

“I wasted my high hopes on you. You could’ve just told me if you didn’t want to marry Jade. Why do you have to humiliate her like that? It’s not like she doesn’t have other suitors!”

My father tapped his cane against the ground in disappointment.

“Adam, get him out of here.”

William said, “Mr. Anderson, why are you acting along? We’ve already registered our marriage, and there are so many people here…”

In response, Austin flung our marriage certificate in his face.

“Look at this properly. It’s my name on the certificate.”

William froze when he saw Austin’s name on it.

“Impossible. Jade married me,” he said in disbelief.

I did not want to see him continue making a fool of himself. So, I signaled Adam to take him away.

Austin held my hand smugly as he gave my waist a squeeze.

“Adam, William grew up with us anyway. Arrange the best seat for him so that he can see Jade getting married!”

William ended up being tied to a chair and placed in the most conspicuous spot.

Our wedding resumed, and when Austin and I kissed, William snapped the wine glass in his hand.
