The Belated Bride: Becoming My Own Muse Chapter 09

The last trace of color drained from Bianca’s face.

Christian looked at Grant.

“What are you doing here?”

Grant didn’t look at him. He just asked me, “Are you alright?”

I nodded.

“I’m managing.”

“Then let’s follow procedure.”

The lawyer behind him stepped forward and directly extended an official legal notice.

After the producer finished reading it, he immediately ordered the crew to kill the lights and stop the shoot.

Bianca stood there in the wedding dress, the set lights dark around her, tears still on her face. She looked a wreck—a stark, almost laughable contrast to the fragile, pitiful image she had been projecting moments ago.

Christian could no longer contain his anger.

“Grant Ashford, this is a private family matter between me and my wife.”

Grant looked at him, his expression flat.

“Mr. Van Ness, have you perhaps forgotten that your wife, first and foremost, is Claire.”

That single sentence pierced the air like a needle.

I looked down and smiled, a small, real smile.

Very few people ever seriously said my name in front of Christian.

Claire.

Not an appendage to someone else.

Not someone’s retreat option.

Not an object to be casually handed off.

I looked at Bianca.

“Take it off.”

She edged closer to Christian.

“Claire, can we at least do this in the dressing room? Right now, I’m just…”

“I’m giving you a way to save face.”

I pointed toward the dressing room.

“Ten minutes.”

Bianca bit her lip, tears streaming down her face one after another.

Christian frowned. “She needs her assistant.”

“Fine.”

I turned to Tara.

“You go in too. And keep an eye on things.”

Tara nodded immediately.

Bianca’s face shifted.

I said, “Don’t worry. I’m just making sure Ms. Moore doesn’t suddenly take another liking to some other piece of my dress and conveniently tuck it into her bag on the way out.”

She finally broke. She turned and walked into the dressing room.

The moment the door closed, Christian lowered his voice.

“Claire, since when have you been connected with Grant Ashford?”
