He Abandoned Our Wedding, I Destroyed His Life Chapter 19

After the plane landed, we walked out of the airport, and everything felt uncannily familiar.

On the way to our hotel, we happened to pass my old law firm.

I said something to my friend, then asked the driver to pull over. I went inside to see if Maya was there.

We hadn’t seen each other in five years, and we had both changed.

Looking at the new plaque on the wall with Maya’s name on it, I couldn’t help but smile.

“Adriana?”

I turned at the sound of the voice.

Maya, who had always worn her hair long, now had a sharp, short cut. She looked more composed, more authoritative.

“It really is you!”

She rushed over and pulled me into a hug.

“It’s been five years! I’ve missed you.”

I smiled back.

“I’m in town with a friend, so I thought I’d stop by and see you.”

Maya was thrilled.

“Did you know Matteo and Chloe have been gone for years?”

She told me that in the years after I left, Matteo’s performance cratered. He lost case after case.

Eventually, Chloe got pregnant on purpose.
