The Midnight Show That Ended with My Husband’s Affair Chapter 12 Fairhaven’s First Snow

In/November, Fairhaven saw its first snow of the year.

Seven years ago, on another first snow, he had handed me a tissue outside the radio station-the beginning of our doomed fate.

And seven years later, this first snow would only become the grave that buried the last shred of his dignity

At eight in the evening, I finished an international video conference.

Just as my high heels were about to touch the last step-

“Lena!”

From the dark corner of the shrubbery to the right of the main gate, a dark figure stumbled out.

It was Spencer.

He had long lost that cold, untouchable air of Fairhaven University’s youngest law professor.

Now he wore a wrinkled, thin coat. His cheeks had sunken deeply from prolonged extreme weight loss and severe depression.

“Stop him!”

My assistant’s face darkened. She gave a sharp order.

Four bodyguards immediately stepped forward, blocking Spencer at more than ten feet away.

“Let go of me! Don’t touch me! Let me see her!”

Spencer struggled like a complete madman, shoving at the bodyguards. One of them kicked him hard in the back of the knee.

Thud. Both his knees slammed onto the snow-covered concrete.

He didn’t even feel the pain. He looked up with that pale face, his bloodshot eyes locked on me.

“Lena… you finally came out…”

Spencer’s voice trembled uncontrollably. His breath fogged in the cold air and vanished instantly.

“I’ve been waiting for you for half a month… you wouldn’t even look at me… It’s so cold out here. I ena… I’m so cold…”

He was trying to beg for a scrap of the warmth we once had.

I stood under my umbrella, elegantly adjusting my expensive white cashmere coat.

My gaze swept past him, landing on the Maybach waiting with its wipers still moving. I didn’t grant him 3

even a side glance.

“Let’s go,” I said flatly to my assistant and stepped forward to walk around him.

“Don’t go! Please don’t go!”

Spencer screamed in despair. He threw himself in front of my car door.

“Have this man removed. If he continues to cause trouble, call the police.”

I stopped, my voice calm and even.

“Don’t call the police… I won’t leave!”

Spencer knelt in the snow, shaking his head wildly. Tears fell in large drops onto the ice.

He looked up at me, and a dangerously insane gleam suddenly appeared in his eyes.

“Lena, I know why you won’t forgive me… I know…”

He muttered to himself, then slowly, with trembling hands, pulled something from the torn pocket of his

coat.

It was a sharp industrial box cutter.

“Lena, you won’t talk to me because you hate that I didn’t protect the baby back then. You hate that I left you alone at home while you hemorrhaged, right?”

Spencer ignored the wariness of everyone around him. His eyes were fixed on me, bloodshot to the point of bleeding.

“You lost half your uterus, you bled so much… I didn’t see it, I didn’t feel it… That’s why I was so rational, so cold-blooded, forcing you to sign those dmn papers…”

Spencer let out a bitter laugh. In the driving snow, it was chilling and grotesque.

“How could I be such a bastard… I lectured you about law, about logic… Lena, it must have hurt so much. right?”

He gripped the box cutter with both hands, the blade pointed directly at his lower abdomen.

“Today, I’m giving that pain back to you. Every bit of it.”

No hesitation. No pause.

Spencer brutally drove the sharp box cutter deep into his own belly.

A gut-wrenching scream tore from his throat.

He didn’t pull the blade out. Instead, he twisted it half a turn inside his abdomen.

Ptoo-

A mouthful of hot blood sprayed from his mouth.

Blood from his lower abdomen soaked through his clothes instantly, pouring out.

But he clung to his last breath.

Both hands pressed against his gushing wound, he slowly, painfully lifted his head and looked at me standing under the black umbrella.

His face was drained of all color, twisted by extreme agony.

But he forced a smile-the most pitiful, cringing, uglier-than-crying smile.

“Lena…”

Blood bubbles kept coming from his mouth. His voice was so faint it was almost swallowed by the wind.

“See… I’m bleeding too… It really… hurts…”
