He Played Poor for 99 Rounds, I Won on the Last One Chapter 08

I’d had enough.

“Dorian, have you completely lost your mind?” I snapped. “Who do you think you are? You think you’re worth me having your child?”

“Take a good look in the mirror. You don’t even come close to my husband.”

His expression darkened, but he still refused to back down.

“I don’t believe you,” he said, almost stubbornly. “We were together for four years. You passed

every test. Your feelings were real.”

His voice tightened.

“There’s no way you just moved on and married someone else. He forced you into it, didn’t he?”

I closed my eyes for a second, then looked back at him.

“One last thing,” I said flatly. “Every time I think about being with you, it makes me sick.”

“Don’t ever show up in front of me again. Or I’ll make sure you can’t stay in this city.”

I rolled the window up.

“Drive.”

Dorian was still talking, still clinging to his delusion.

“Celia, this is another test, isn’t it? I’ll prove myself this time.”

He stepped in front of the car, planting himself there like he meant it.

I didn’t even hesitate.

“Just go,” I told the driver. “He won’t risk his life.”

The engine roared.

The car surged forward.

At the last second-barely a meter away-Dorian panicked and dove to the side. He hit the ground hard, stumbling, coughing as exhaust blew across his face.

Pathetic and ridiculous.

When Alaric heard what happened, he didn’t hold back.

Within a single day, the Blackridge family collapsed

Their company was investigated for tax evasion and fraud. Authorities stepped in. Assets were

frozen. Executives detained.

Dorian went from heir to liability overnight.

His own family turned on him. They broke his leg and threw him out, cutting him off completely.

With nowhere to go, he ended up on the street.

The man who once measured everything in power and money now washed dishes for scraps,

picking through whatever he could just to survive.

Vanessa wasn’t any better.

She was sentenced to three years.

She tried reaching out to everyone she knew, but no one wanted to be associated with her anymore. In prison, she was placed with the most aggressive inmates. Her face-once her greatest pride-was slashed, leaving a scar that ran across it.

Between the abuse and the isolation, she aged fast!

By the time it sank in, there was nothing left to fix.

She regretted everything.

But it was too late.

As for me-

When my father officially retired, I took over Viremont Holdings.

I had already been managing most of the business in the years leading up to it. Now, everything was in my hands.

I ran it my way. Sharper. More disciplined. Always moving forward.

The Viremont name wasn’t going anywhere.

The announcement was broadcast across every major financial network.

Dorian happened to see it.

He was in the back of a restaurant kitchen, carrying plates, when he looked up at the screen and

froze.

For a moment, he just stared.

Like he was watching a life that could’ve been his.

He thought about college. About what might have happened if he hadn’t turned everything into a

test.

If he had just stayed.

Then maybe the person standing next to me now would’ve been him.

A sharp slap cut through his thoughts.

“Stop staring and get back to work,” his boss snapped. “You think you’re getting paid to stand

around?”

He lowered his head and went back to work.

And I never thought about him again.

Alaric, on the other hand, did.

He got jealous over the whole thing.

It took me days to calm him down.

After that, something shifted.

He started making more time-cutting back on work just to be with me and Elliot. Driving me

everywhere, picking me up himself, finding any excuse to stay close a little longer.

I didn’t stop him.

With him, with my family, I had everything I needed.
