She Stole My EpiPen. My Family Made Her Pay Chapter 04

In the wake of the crash, a figure with crushing authority appeared in the doorway, leaning on a silver cane.
It was my grandfather, Arthur Kensington, the current head of Kensington Group.
Behind him stood two full rows of private security officers in custom black suits and earpieces.
It was as if someone had hit mute on the room. The bodyguards cut off the raging music, and the air went cold and solid.
Drake’s arrogant face went paper white. Fear hit him on instinct, and he stepped back without meaning to.
“Is that… Mr. Kensington? I’ve seen him in Forbes…”
Someone in the crowd recognized my grandfather and gasped in disbelief.
The VIP room erupted.
“Which Kensington?”
“Are you blind? The Kensington family that controls half the commercial real estate in New York. What is he doing here? Wait… is Selena really the heir?”
My grandfather did not spare that trash a second glance. He walked straight toward me.
Two private doctors who had come with him rushed forward. One injected epinephrine into my outer thigh while the other prepared a second dose, put me on oxygen, and called EMS.
My grandfather’s cloudy but razor-sharp eyes swept over the blood on my face and the terrifying hives covering my skin. His silver cane struck the floor.
“Who touched the Kensington girl?”
His voice was not loud, but it carried a killing chill that made everyone tremble.
The room went dead silent. The boys who had been shouting moments ago no longer dared to breathe too loudly.
Drake’s legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees. A bodyguard stepped on his back without mercy, making his face twist with pain, though he did not dare make a sound.
Madison finally snapped back to herself. Her teeth chattered as she stammered,
“Mr. K-Kensington… this is a misunderstanding. Selena and I were just joking around. It was just a prank. We didn’t know she…”
“A prank?” my grandfather cut in coldly. The tip of his cane pointed to the crushed remains of my watch. “My family’s highest-level GPS emergency system exists for idiots like you to play with?”
“No, no!” Drake waved his hands frantically. “She pressed it by accident. We had no idea what it was.”
My grandfather stared at them as if he were looking at two corpses.
As the medication began to work, my collapsing airway finally opened again, and air flooded my lungs.
My grandfather crouched beside me and stroked my hair with a hand spotted by age.
“My child, you suffered. This is my fault. Security came too late. Don’t worry. The Kensington legal team will make them wish they had never been born.”
Tears slid down my face.
The nerves that had held me upright finally snapped. I could not hold on anymore, and I closed my eyes and passed out.
