He Replaced Me in Three Days So I Replaced Him in One Night Chapter 04

“Told you! Zero surprise. Ethan, obviously.”

“Breaking the engagement for that money? She’s got a fight on her hands.”

A smug smile touched Ethan’s lips as he pulled a card from his pocket. I didn’t hear his words. I didn’t need to. I stepped right past him, my focus on the figure seated behind him.

“How old are you?” The young man lounging on the sofa, idly shaking a dice cup, went still.

He looked to his left, then his right, then finally pointed a finger at his own chest, his expression one of comic disbelief. “Me?” “You.”

The room went silent- then erupted in screams.

“Whoa! That’s bold!”

“Look at Ethan- his face is terrifying!”

I blocked out everything-the gasps, the shouts-and kept my eyes on the man on the sofa.

“Picking me?” he asked, a slow grin spreading across his face. His gaze flicked over my shoulder. “Seems someone’s plans just went up in smoke.”

“We’re calling off the engagement.”

Before he could answer yes or no, Ethan roared first.

“Finn, you dare?”

So this was Finn Foster. The baby of the formidable Foster family. A notorious playboy with a taste

for chaos.

He ran amok in the city, a law unto himself-the very definition of a spoiled young tyrant.

Finn leaned back on the sofa, legs crossed.

He nodded at Ethan, “Tell me what won’t I dare?”

“You’re a child,” Ethan spat, the words dripping with contempt. “This isn’t a game. Your father will have your hide for this. Clara.” His voice shifted, turning to a cold command aimed at me. “This

charade is over. You’re coming with me.”

Ethan scowled and reached for my hand.

I pulled back, swatting his hand away sharply.

“Ethan, have you ever really known me? Tonight I’d go with anyone- except you.”

Ethan sneered, “Fine! Fine! I’d love to see who’d take a thirty-year-old woman. Who’d want you? Who dares to take you?”

Ethan swept a glare around the room, his anger a physical, dangerous thing.

People sensed the shift, the threat of violence in the air, and began to inch back, creating a wide berth around us.

Ethan Hale was famous for his long memory and his short fuse.

People feared him less for his influence, and more for his willingness to scorch the earth, to destroy himself if it meant destroying you.

Nobody with a sense of self-preservation tangled with a rabid dog.

Ethan slammed the bank card into the host’s chest “Take your money and get out!”

The host wiped his sweat, grabbing the room key from his tray to flee.

A voice came from the sofa behind me,

“Hold on. Did I say you could leave?”

Finn stood up, snatching the room key from the host’s tray.

He shot Ethan a provocative glance, “I dare.”

Finn turned to me, his gaze casual, “Guess I’m taking you now.”
