I turned to look out the window of the jet.

The plane was circling a private island.

The entire island was covered in white roses that had been flown in from the Netherlands.

The flowers carpeted the landscape, stretching from the white sand beach all the way to the stone manor at the island’s center.

That was the wedding venue Evander had prepared for me.

This time, there would be no one playing favorites, no one plotting against me.

There was only respect.

And him, by my side.

After the plane landed, I changed into the wedding dress Evander had commissioned from Vera Wang.

It was a mermaid gown with clean, elegant lines, scattered with delicate, hand-sewn diamonds.

There was no fussy ornamentation, just a perfect silhouette that hugged my body.

When I gathered my skirt and stepped out of the dressing suite, Evander was waiting for me at the end of the aisle.

He wore a classic black tailcoat.

When his eyes landed on me, a look of pure wonder crossed his face.

The next second, he was walking toward me.

He didn’t stand there and wait.

He came to me, took my hand, and slid a magnificent pink diamond ring onto my finger.

It was larger and far more brilliant than the one Chloe had coveted.

“Beautiful,” he said softly.

He laced his fingers through mine and didn’t let go.

The gentle sea breeze lifted my veil.

All around us was the sound of sincere applause and happy laughter from our guests.

I looked at the man beside me, and the last shadow in my heart finally dissolved.

Evander leaned down, his voice a soft promise in my ear.
