We Died So He Could Love Chapter 03

We Died So He Could Love Chapter 03

In my daze, I heard Kieran’s voice.

“Carla, I’m still worried.”

“The last few shocks… she looked like she was at her limit. What if she actually dies?”

Carla wrapped her arms around his waist, her lips close to his ear.

“Still don’t trust me? I set the levels myself. It’ll be fine.”

Kieran rubbed his brow.

“But I’ve had this pit in my stomach all day. I feel like something’s about to go wrong.”

“You’re just exhausted. What could possibly happen?”

“I already asked the doctor. The levels are within what a human body can tolerate.”

“Besides, for the baby’s sake, I would never truly hurt her.”

“After all, the baby in her belly will be my baby someday, too.”

Kieran seemed to relax. He nodded.

“Maybe I’m overthinking it.”

He hugged Carla, his voice lowering.

“You’ve suffered all these years. The surgery will only allow you to have a normal sex life. You still won’t be able to carry a child yourself.”

Something flickered in Carla’s eyes.

“I’ll treat Blythe’s child as my own.”

“Don’t worry. When she gives birth, I’ll have the baby swapped with a Black infant.”

“Then I’ll leak the story to the press.”

“I’ll have grounds to divorce her publicly and marry you. The child problem will be solved.”

Hearing that, my entire body went cold.

I couldn’t believe those words had come from Kieran’s mouth.

He had always been obsessed with his family’s background and breeding.

He used to say he’d never touch anything unclean.

But now, he was planning how to steal my child and discard me.

The current burned a huge opening through my belly.

Blood, flesh, and amniotic fluid spilled from the gaping wound. Everything inside was visible.

I smiled faintly, closed my eyes, and waited for death.

If there is a next life, I pray I never see Kieran Vitale again.

Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open.

“Blythe? Why are you here? Your stomach…”

Before he could finish, the stench hit Preston, and he gagged, clapping a hand over his mouth and nose.

“Preston… please… save me…”

“Who the hell did this to you? You’re Kieran’s wife.”

Preston was Kieran’s friend.

I couldn’t risk him siding with Kieran, so I kept my words vague.

“I can’t hold on much longer… please… call a doctor…”

Preston was a player, not a saint, but he couldn’t stomach this kind of brutality.

My only hope was to bet on his conscience.

“I’ll call 911 first, then find a doctor here to stop the bleeding.”

A man I barely knew was willing to help me.

While the man I’d loved for years had left me here to die.

The irony was laughable.

“911? There’s a woman here with severe injuries. Send an ambulance now!”

He put the phone on speaker, and the dispatcher’s voice came through clearly.

“Sir, we have no available ambulances in your vicinity at this time.”

“There’s a VIP emergency at a major hospital. All private ambulance services in the city have been dispatched there.”

“I heard that gentleman’s partner has severe tearing injuries, and he also brought in thirty private doctors, so we don’t have a vehicle that can get to you right away.”

Preston’s voice shot up.

“What do you mean, no vehicle? She’s dying!”

“I’m very sorry, sir. Even the closest unit we can dispatch will take a long time to reach you.”

Preston cursed under his breath, his grip so tight the phone creaked.

After hanging up, he gritted his teeth and lifted me into his arms.

“Sorry. I’ll have to drive you to the hospital myself.”

My eyes were closed. I had no strength left.

“Thank… you…”

“Don’t talk. Just hold on.”

He placed me in the passenger seat and sped toward the nearest city hospital.
