He Thought I Loved Him, I Only Loved His Face Chapter 13

He Thought I Loved Him, I Only Loved His Face Chapter 13

Even the driver couldn’t stop admiring the house when they pulled up. Beautiful place.

Maya didn’t say much. She handed him a twenty percent tip as she got out.

The driver stared at the tip, face breaking into delighted surprise.

“Thank you. Have a wonderful day.”

Maya smiled politely.

He unloaded her luggage at the door and left.

She unlocked the villa.

The interior was elegant. Full of things but impeccably organized. The floors gleamed like they’d just been polished.

Someone had clearly arranged a deep clean before her arrival.

The villa was an inheritance from her aunt. For years, a friend overseas had handled the rental for her.

When that friend learned Maya was coming, she immediately offered the place. The last tenant’s lease had just ended. Perfect timing.

Maya saw the vase of fresh eucalyptus in the entryway. Warmth spread through her chest.

Her phone rang.

She saw the contact name. Answered immediately.

“Well? You made it or not, Maya? I just got off work. If I weren’t so swamped today, I would’ve picked you up myself.”

Nora Wells. Dramatic as always.

Right now, that familiar voice was the most comforting thing in the world.

“I know you’re busy. I wasn’t planning to tell you my flight details anyway.”

“Absolutely not. I’ve been your self-appointed guardian since we were kids. You don’t get to shake me off now. And don’t forget—you’re here to help me. Creative Director Maya.”

The teasing title lifted Maya’s mood.

“You called me Director. Guess I have to give it my all.”

“That design draft you sent? I showed it to the team here. Everyone raved. Especially Dawson Reed. He’s extremely impressed. I’m throwing a little welcome party. Coming to pick you up now.”

“Party?”

Maya barely got the word out before Nora hung up.

She laughed, half-exasperated.

She decided to unpack first.

Standing in the huge room, she suddenly didn’t know where to start.

She realized refusing Nora’s offer to hire housekeeping had been a mistake.

After wrestling with things for a while, she confirmed it was definitely a mistake.

She texted Nora. Said she needed someone reliable. For cleaning.

The reply came instantly: “Sorted.”

Maya relaxed. She checked the time, changed, and waited.

“Maya! God, I missed you!”

Nora pulled her into a hug the second she saw her, then steered her straight to the car.

“What? You’re running late again, aren’t you?”

Maya was used to this whirlwind energy.

Nora grinned sheepishly and promised this party would be worth it as she drove.

They pushed through the doors.

Confetti exploded.

“Surprise! Welcome to our new Creative Director!”
