Ten minutes later, Liam’s phone hit the plush carpet with a heavy thud.

The wall of silent, unanswered messages made him clench his fists until his knuckles turned white.

He whipped around to face his assistant, his voice a low growl.

“The plane. Get the plane ready. I’m going back to Montana. Now.”

“But, sir…” The assistant’s face went pale.

“Now!” Liam’s voice left no room for argument.

A few minutes later, the young assistant ran back, shaking. He glanced at Chloe, his eyes wide with fear.

“Mr. Henderson, uh…”

“Spit it out. You stammer again and you’re fired.”

Chloe shot the assistant a warning look, but he braced himself and reported, his eyes practically squeezed shut.

“Operations said… it was Miss Vance who requested that the two private jets return to California and come back for everyone in three days.”

His voice got smaller and smaller.

“The planes have already entered controlled airspace. They… they can’t turn back.”

Liam’s head snapped toward Chloe.

He caught the fierce, warning glare she hadn’t yet managed to wipe from her face.

The color drained from Chloe’s cheeks. “No… Liam, listen to me,” she stammered. “I just thought all the rooms in Aspen were booked and the crew would have nowhere to stay. I was only trying to…”
